Zagora - Early in the morning, the operator will pick guests up from their hotel and transport them to meet the camels and camel drivers. The team will load the camels. After taking in the initial view of the stunning Jbel Bani mountain range, the ascent of Jbel Bani will commence.
Foum Zguid - Following a morning of hiking and enjoying the mountain vistas, a break will be taken under an acacia tree for some shade. Here, a delicious lunch prepared by the team will be served. With some luck, wildlife such as ostriches or oryx might be spotted.
Foum Zguid - After the lunch break, energized by the meal, the journey will continue across a pass in Jbel Bani. The descent will lead to a small oasis, the location for the first tranquil night in a Berber-style bivouac camp. The team will ensure everything is ready at the camp—from setting up the tents to arranging a cozy seating area—so that a peaceful and unforgettable evening under the stars can be enjoyed.
Erg Chigaga - While the team sets up the mobile bivouac camp and prepares dinner, guests can enjoy some tea. There will be time to explore the surroundings, play games, relax, share stories, and watch the sunset behind the mountains. A delightful meal will be served in the camp’s makeshift restaurant, followed by a restful night in preparation for the next day’s adventures.
Second Day of Hiking Through the Erg Chigaga Desert
Erg Chigaga - After breakfast, the second day of hiking through the Erg Chigaga desert will begin. On the way to the valley, a magnificent view of the Chigaga plateau and dunes will be enjoyed. These are the largest sand dunes in Africa!
Erg Chigaga - After a rewarding hike through the sand dunes, it’s time to refuel! A freshly cooked lunch will be served under an acacia or tamarisk tree, providing a chance to relax and enjoy the cooling shade.
Erg Chigaga - Following the break, the journey will continue through the breathtaking, golden dunes of Erg Chigaga, taking in the vast desert landscapes that stretch endlessly in every direction. As the afternoon sun begins to soften, around 3 pm, the dedicated team will go ahead to prepare the desert camp for the night.
Erg Chigaga - The second camp will be set up at the foot of the largest dune in Chigaga, an extraordinary location. Guests will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and will have time to relax, watch the sunset, and play nomad games. Another home-cooked dinner will be served, followed by a restful night in preparation for the day ahead.
Last Day of Hiking and Camel Ride Through the Dunes
Erg Chigaga - After waking and having breakfast, a three-hour trek through the ocean of sand will commence, crossing the dunes to reach a small bivouac.
Erg Chigaga - For those interested, a short nap can be taken at midday. Others will have the opportunity to explore the surroundings independently. A fun afternoon awaits, alternating between camel riding through the dunes and sandboarding on the dunes.
Erg Chigaga - After the camel rides and sandboarding, guests will be welcomed back to the bivouac camp with tea and cookies. A delicious home-cooked dinner will conclude this beautiful day under the stars, possibly accompanied by live Berber music!
Last Day of Enjoying the Desert View
Erg Chigaga - The last breakfast together will be a time to share stories and memories. Cheers to many more adventures!
Zagora - After breakfast, a 4x4 will transport guests back to Zagora (160km including 60km of track) or to Foum Zguid (90km of track). Along the way, keep an eye out for desert wildlife!
