- Trakoscan Castle (Dvor Trakoscan) - A walking tour of the castle will take us back to chivalry times. Trakošćan, a 13th-century castle is full of paintings, weapons, artifacts and interesting stories about its previous owners. After visiting the castle, explore the picturesque lake that surrounds it.
- Zagreb - Our day will end with our return to Zagreb in the late afternoon.

History, Culture and Flexibility – A Perfect Day Trip - We had a fantastic tour of Varaždin and Trakošćan Castle with Karlo from Bespoke Croatia. Varaždin is a beautiful town and Karlo did a great job balancing historical sites with free time for us to roam—one of the best perks of a private tour is that flexibility, and Karlo was very accommodating in tweaking the schedule for us.
We particularly enjoyed the visit to a local cemetery; Karlo’s explanation of Croatian customs regarding death was fascinating and a highlight we didn't expect!
We finished at Trakošćan Castle, where Karlo provided incredible historical context for every room, painting and piece of furniture. His dining recommendations afterward were spot on. A truly knowledgeable and professional guide!

Six out of five stars - Spent 2 weeks in Croatia and near the end of our stay we booked the Varzdin/Trakiscan tour with Karlo. The village and castle were wonderful but what made the day special was the tour guide. Great conversation on the way to and from the destination and as much detail as we wanted about the castle and city. Karlo has a way of giving enough information without getting boring and he reacts to the needs of the client well. There were 3 of us on the tour and his interaction with each of us was well worth the cost.

Baroque Beauty and Castle Charm - Karlo Delivers Again - Following an exceptional experience the day before, we joined Karlo for a second tour - this time to the northern Croatian gems of Varazdin and Trakoscan. The shift in pace was refreshing, and once again, Karlo delivered a day rich in insight, warmth, and thoughtful detail.
Varazdin’s baroque elegance was beautifully framed by Karlo’s storytelling, from noble families to architectural quirks. He brought the city’s history to life with humor and clarity, and even pointed out hidden details we’d never have noticed on our own.
Trakoscan Castle was a dream - lakeside views, romantic towers, and a museum that Karlo navigated with precision and passion. The surrounding woods by the lake were crisp and clear, perfect for a gentle stroll, reflection, and further photo opportunities. He knew when to step back and let us explore, and when to step in with context that deepened our appreciation. His flexibility and intuition were once again on full display, adjusting the pace to suit our energy and interests.

Absolutely wonderful guide in Zagreb! - We spent two days with Karlo from Zagreb - firstly the Eclectic Walking Tour of Zagreb with Karlo customised for us to include a local craft beer tasting, and secondly the Varazdin and Trakoscan Castle Tour.
Both tours were wonderful - Karlo is such a thoughtful and engaging guide. He told us many wonderful stories about the places he was showing us, and we also learned much about life in Croatia in general.
Karlo was very generous in his knowledge and assistance, providing us with many recommendations for restaurants, foods and drinks to try, and museums to visit. He also made a dinner reservation for us at Stari Fijaker - a fabulous traditional Croatian restaurant in Zagreb.
If we had more time in Zagreb, I would definitely spend all our extra days with Karlo! 🤗

Varazdin and Trakoscan Castle Tour 5-Star Tour⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Karlo is extremely professional and fun at the same time. Karlo strikes a great balance of free exploration and a guided tour. He shares his wealth of knowledge in a fun and entertaining way. When it comes to details Karlo has thought of everything, from where to go for a light lunch to snacks in the car. We had so much fun and would highly recommend this tour with Karlo. A definite must if visiting Zagreb.

Private Tour of Varazdin and Trakoscan Castle - Wonderful trip to beautiful and interesting sites in Croatia! Our guide Karlo was terrific and told us all about the history of Varazdin, and we explored this lovely Baroque village. We then visited Trakoscan castle, and learned about the history of the castle and the area. Truly a wonderful day!

Medieval town and Castle adventure - Hopefully, you are lucky like us to have Karlo as your guide… He has super knowledge about the history of the town of Varazdin and Tracoscan castle and has an excellent fluency in English. The tour is about exploring places that are far from the madding crowd … he showed us around the town of Varazdin and gave us ample time to explore it on our own. If you like history of medieval town and castle, this tour is for you…

Karlo Zagreb - My wife and I were in Zagreb on 2/4/2025 and took a private tour with Karlo. He is an excellent guide. He takes care of us well before the day of the trip. He contacted us to find out if we had any dietary restrictions. On the day of the trip, he brought some snacks and water for us. He accompanied us on the visits, explaining everything in detail and demonstrating great knowledge of all of them. One of the best guides we have had, a 10.

Varazdin and Traksocan Castle, a highly recommended Tour - The trip to Varazdin and Traksocan is a fantastic experience. Varzadin, with its picturesque old town and the impressive Traksocan Castle, situated in a beautiful landscape, are highly recommended. Karlo is an excellent guide; friendly and polite, he provided in-depth historical information throughout the tour and was a safe driver. I highly recommend this tour.
