• Tumbatu Island - The excursion begins at 9:00 am from Mkokoni’s local dhow harbor and fishing village. A brief visit to the area is included before proceeding to Tumbatu Island, where participants will explore the local fish and furniture market, as well as the local cargo dhows and fishing boats.
  The journey to the island takes 30 minutes by small boat. Upon arrival, there is a stop at the lagoon to learn about the fishing techniques and traps used by the locals.

The tour includes visits to various locations to observe the daily life of the locals, from the harbor where dhow crafters and fishermen repair nets, to the ancient baobab trees that once served as a school. The tour continues with a fascinating visit to a witch doctor (spiritual healer) to learn about traditional, spiritual, and ritual treatments and herbs.

Participants will also visit the Shiraz ruins. The Shiraz were the earliest settlers and local rulers of the Zanzibar Islands and Tumbatu Island before the 12th century. A hot local lunch will be served at the end, featuring rice, coconut curry, seafood, and fruits.
