Prison Ruins: This building was constructed in 1893 to serve as the Central Prison of Zanzibar. The construction began in 1893, the same year as a cholera epidemic in Egypt and a bubonic plague outbreak in Bombay. As Zanzibar was the main East African port, authorities decided that the prison and other buildings should be prepared as a quarantine station to implement proper control measures for vessels and passengers, preventing the risk of an epidemic in the Zanzibar Archipelago.

• Nakupenda Beach Nature Reserve - Nakupenda is the name of a sandbank located near Stone Town. After visiting Prison Island, the tour proceeds to Nakupenda Sandbank, where participants can relax, swim, and snorkel. It is considered one of the best beaches in Zanzibar.
