Xi’an – Zhengzhou (L, D)

Shaolin Temple - The driver will collect guests from their Xi’an city hotel lobby and transport them to the Xi’an Railway Station. The morning train to Zhengzhou takes approximately 2 hours.

Upon arrival, guests will meet a friendly local tour guide and be directly transferred to Shaolin Temple (about a 1.5-hour drive). During the journey, the tour guide will share the history of Shaolin Temple, and guests can enjoy the scenic countryside views.

Shaolin Temple - Upon reaching Shaolin Temple, guests will stop at a local restaurant for a delightful lunch. Known for Chinese Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple offers a chance to witness authentic Kung Fu performed by Shaolin monks. As a UNESCO Site, the temple was initially built in 495 A.D. by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) to house the Indian master Batuo. Recognized as the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the cradle of Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple’s history and stories will be shared by a knowledgeable tour guide, covering its culture, people, and spirit.

Pagoda Forest of Shaolin Temple - Guests will then explore the Pagoda Forest, a collection of tomb pagodas for the temple’s eminent monks and abbots. With over 240 tomb pagodas from the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (618-1911), it is the largest pagoda forest in China.

Afterward, guests will be transferred to their accommodation in Luoyang.

Luoyang-Xi’an (L)

Longmen Grottoes - The tour guide will pick up guests at the scheduled time and head directly to Longmen Grottoes.

As a UNESCO Site, the Longmen Grottoes feature over 2,300 caves and niches carved into steep limestone cliffs along a 1km stretch. It is the largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties (316-907). Accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide, guests will also visit the Fengxian Temple and the Wanfo Cave.

Longmen Grottoes - After enjoying a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, the tour guide will take guests to Luoyang Railway Station for their train back to Xi’an (approximately 2 hours). Guests may choose to conclude their tour in Luoyang or Zhengzhou (If ending in Zhengzhou, Day one involves taking the train to Luoyang, and Day two concludes in Zhengzhou).

Upon arrival, the driver will pick up guests at Xi’an Railway Station and transfer them back to their hotel in Xi’an City.

Note: Guests will take the train independently, and the local English-speaking tour guide will meet them in Zhengzhou/Luoyang.
