This railway connects the resort village of Zermatt to the summit of the Gornergrat, where the station is perched at an elevation of 3,089 m (10,135 ft).

As the train ascends, passengers can admire stunning Alpine vistas of the Monte-Rosa region, nearby glaciers, the Matterhorn, and Switzerland’s tallest peak, the Dufourspitze.
