- Gornergrat Railway - The tour continues with a breathtaking train ride up to the historic Gornergrat Bahn, Switzerland’s first electric rack railway, established in 1898. This railway connects the resort village of Zermatt to the summit of the Gornergrat, where the station is perched at an elevation of 3,089 m (10,135 ft).
As the train ascends, passengers can admire stunning Alpine vistas of the Monte-Rosa region, nearby glaciers, the Matterhorn, and Switzerland’s tallest peak, the Dufourspitze. Upon reaching the summit, visitors are treated to views of 29 surrounding mountain peaks and several glaciers, including the Gorner Glacier, the second longest in the Alps.
