Another day, another country - Although an early Start of pick up at 630, this day tour is just enough. We were back in the hotel at 630 PM, despite the hold up for about 2 hours at the border (this is quite expected with a bus full of tourist exit and entering Croatia). Our tour guide Nikko is very knowledgable, firm with our timeline and plan for the day, which was great! Plus he’s funny and full of personality! We love it! Kotor is a small but charming town. Food was not great from the restaurant we ate, so maybe for next time, stick to comfort food when visiting. We love the Lady of the Rock island, although man-made but quite special and symbolic. So if you plan this day trip from Dubrovnik, it’s still worth the experience.

Niko hosts a great tour - Niko is great! The meetup time is early, despite that, his upbeat attitude and lively personality helped get the group awake. He knew a lot about the area providing great insight to the history and background of Montenegro and Croatia. I appreciated how strict he held the timeline and it ensured we had minimal issues traveling between stops.

The whole day was very... - The whole day was very rushed . The guide, Nico thought he was running the hi de hi camp, constantly asking for thumbs up ! We arrived at perast and he shuttled us to the boat to go across to the island - he hadn’t explained whether there was a choice or told us the cost of the boat and entrance to church . By the time we had come back from the boat trip there was hardly anytime left to see the village or even get a coffee. On route to Kotor he recommended a restaurant and had a voucher each for a drink and coffee- when we got off the bus he told us we had 3 hours, he then asked us all to follow him and we all ended up in the restaurant he recommended, we had thought we were going into the town at this point. Near enough the whole bus sat down and ordered and an hour and a half later we left without having our food, this just left an hour and a half to explore Kotor and get something to eat ! Again Nico seemed to railroad us into this without explanation. An hour and half was not enough time to appreciate Kotor. We told Niko about the restaurant and how long we waited and had to leave without having food and he just shrugged and said you’re not the only ones and I’ll feedback ( I’m assuming he’s on commission from the restaurant) All day he constantly told us to be early to get back on the bus (thumbs up if we did). We appreciated there was a change in border control but this should be allowed for in the length of the trip . He seemed to push all day that we had to return early in case we were stuck at the border control. At the end of the trip he announced he and the driver liked tips and pointed out where we could leave them. Then said they couldn’t stop in the arranged drop off point and left a number of us at the side of a busy road trying to cross at our own risk , which was 300 steps down to where they should have dropped us. In comparison to the other trip we took this week the information about the places we visited was very scant on the tour , all he seemed to talk about was getting back on the bus early, border control and getting back to Dubrovnik early. We arrived back almost 2 hours earlier than expected - time we could have had in Montenegro .
