Chiquisca - The journey begins at 6:00 am from Cusco, heading towards the village of Cachora (3100 meters above sea level), arriving around 10:00 am. From this point, the trek continues with the support of porters and pack horses. The hike starts here, offering views of the snow-capped Padrayoc (5,482 meters above sea level) and Wayna Cachora. At the Capuliyoc pass (2900 meters above sea level), a brief pause allows for a panoramic view of the Apurimac Valley. The descent then leads to Chiquisqa (1930 meters above sea level), where the first camp is set amidst a warm climate and stunning scenery.

Choquequirao Inca Citadel - At dawn, after a delightful breakfast, the group heads to Choquequirao to witness the sunrise. A three-hour guided tour of the Citadel follows, highlighting the significance of the Inca archaeological complex and the Apurimac and Rio Blanco rivers, as well as the Vilcabamba mountain range. The return to Sunchupata marks the beginning of the descent to Santa Rosa, followed by a further descent to Playa Rosalina, and finally reaching the town of Chiquisqa for camping.
Chiquisqa - Capuliyoc - Cachora
Ruinas de Choquequirao - After a delicious breakfast in Chiquisqa at 6:00 am, the return journey follows the same path to the Capuliyoc pass. From there, the trek continues for two more hours to the town of Cachora, arriving around 12:00 pm. Along the way, the route offers views of exotic flora and fauna, majestic mountains, snow-capped peaks, and the breathtaking Apurimac Canyon, before continuing to the city of Cusco, reaching the hotel in the afternoon.

We’ll set off from Cusco city. After covering a 145 km stretch on a paved road and an additional 10 km off-road, we’ll arrive at the town of Cachorra. This marks the gateway to our final destination - a 32 km journey brimming with spectacular valleys, cliffs, rich fauna, and the flora of the Apurimac canyon, which is the deepest in the world. Our ultimate destination, Choquequirao, translates as the ‘Golden Cradle’.
