- W.E.B. DuBois Center - Dr. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois is recognized as a pioneer of Pan Africanism. He was invited by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, to Ghana to edit an encyclopedia of African history and was provided a residence to live with his wife until his passing. His home is now a museum known as the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre. The center showcases Dr. Du Bois’ personal belongings, honorary awards, and numerous publications in his library. His tomb and the cremated remains of his wife are also located at the center.
- Independence Square - In 1961, during the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles to Ghana, the Black Star Square, also known as Independence Square, was commissioned by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Visitors can see the Independence Arch, the Black Star Gate, and the Liberation Monument. The site is a vast open space surrounded by stands that can accommodate about 30,000 people. It was constructed to commemorate Ghana’s independence as a symbol of self-reliance and national unity. The space is also used for various national, religious, and commercial events, such as political rallies and entertainment concerts.
- Center for National Culture - The Arts and Craft Market is a collection of stalls where crafts and souvenirs inspired by Ghanaian culture, such as kente cloths, beads, carvings, and many other accessories, are displayed for purchase. Visitors have the opportunity to explore different stalls to appreciate and buy mementos as keepsakes from their visit to Ghana. Vendors are always ready to assist guests and are eager to persuade them to consider their products, as similar items are available from various sellers at the same venue.
- Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - Visitors can explore the Kwame Nkrumah Museum/Memorial Park, which is the final resting place of Ghana’s first president, who led the liberation of the Gold Coast from colonial rule. The museum contains the personal effects and publications of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, showcasing various stages of his life from childhood to his political career until his overthrow and death. There are also pictures and videos depicting his life history with renowned personalities worldwide. The site is where Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana’s independence.
