- W.E.B. DuBois Center - A staunch advocate for the black community and women’s suffrage, Du Bois dedicated much of his life and career to Pan-Africanism, organizing several Pan-African congresses to liberate many African colonies from European rule.
While in Ghana, a nation where he championed independence, Du Bois planned his final project, the Encyclopedia Africana. Modeled after the Encyclopedia Britannica, this ambitious project aimed to unite the entire African diaspora.
Although Du Bois passed away in 1963 without completing the Encyclopedia Africana, his vast contributions as a historian, civil rights activist, writer, sociologist, and intellectual significantly impacted the African American experience. The Museum honors his influential life, activism, and scholarly works that remain vital references on racism in America.
- Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - This park commemorates the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and is situated on a former British Polo field where Ghana’s independence was declared in 1957. The Mausoleum, a stunning marble monument, serves as the final resting place for Ghana’s first President and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah.
