This event holds great importance for individuals from the African American and Caribbean diasporas, providing an opportunity to reconnect with their heritage and ancestors in a rural Ghanaian village or a community in Accra.
Participants will partake in birth identity rituals, discovering the day they were born, known as their “Soul Name,” and receiving a local name from the community, complete with its meaning. The ceremony will feature traditional drumming and dancing.
As part of the celebration, participants will receive a gift from the community, which may include beads or a Ghana Kente Stole with “Welcome to Ghana” beautifully inscribed on it, along with a certificate of recognition.
The ceremony will be led by a respected elder, renowned for their strong moral standing within the community. This is a wonderful opportunity to join and forge connections with a community in Ghana. Embrace your roots!
