Although it remains a guided tour, the interpretive hike covers more distance and delves into the sub-alpine and alpine tundra, as well as glacial topography, in detail. The additional time spent on the ground allows the group to explore the forested area near the Nenana River, the brushy yet wildlife-rich sub-alpine tundra, and enjoy the stunning views and highly adapted vegetation of the taiga. Participants should be prepared to cover 4-6 miles and ascend 1500-1800 feet in elevation.
