Highlight of Our Trip – DO NOT MISS OUT! - If you're going to be in or around Antigua, you have to book this Guatemalan cooking class and market tour with Milton – seriously, you won’t regret it! Milton met us right on time and was super easy to find. From the get-go, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about his culture. The market tour was a total eye-opener — he explained everything from local ingredients to everyday customs, and made it all really fun and engaging. Driving in Antigua traffic isn’t for the faint of heart, but Milton handled it like a pro. When we arrived at his beautiful home and rooftop kitchen, we were blown away. The setting was amazing — cozy, colorful, and full of local charm. We instantly felt like we were part of something special. Milton and his wife were so welcoming and easy to talk to. The conversation felt totally natural, like we were hanging out with old friends. And the food — wow. Everything we made as a group was absolutely delicious and there was a lot of it! Pro tip: don’t make dinner plans after this class… or at least push them back, because we left totally stuffed. This experience was hands-down one of the best parts of our time in Guatemala. Whether you’re into food, culture, or just want to do something unique, this is it. Thanks again, Milton — we loved every minute! (Ryan, Eric, and Jackie)

Highly Recommend - Touring the market with Milton and cooking lunch with him and his sister in their family home was one of the highlights of our trip to Guatemala. Milton thought of everything. He purchased fruits that we hadn’t tried before to snack on during our meal prep and assigned tasks that our 8 year-old could handle. He even played music that our 15 year-old approved of (Bad Bunny). The rooftop kitchen was pretty and caught a nice breeze and the food was perfect and delicious. My husband had an allergy attack during the market tour and had to go home before we began preparing the meal and Milton was kind enough to package up leftovers for him to enjoy. In addition, Milton knows a lot of other people and businesses in Antigua and was very helpful with giving recommendations and explaining where we could and could not go safely. Do yourself a favor and do this. It is worth every penny.

Experience traditional cuisine on a terrace overlooking the Agua volcano - It was my first trip to Guatemala and it was the best memory of cooking traditional food. I was also able to see something unique to Gumatemara through the food shopping at the market. The personality of the cookery class teacher and his wife was wonderful, and I was really glad to cook with fun and interest because they taught me gently and politely. Of course, it tastes great! Today's food was better than any restaurant's. When I get home, I'm going to make my own. I really appreciate the meaningful time I had.

Book this tour! - Book this tour! The experience begins with a guided visit to Antigua’s bustling Mercado Central, where Milton expertly navigates the winding paths of the market, introducing you to the local vendors he buys from and sharing the stories behind the ingredients. From there, you’re welcomed into his family home to prepare a delicious three course meal. Milton and his wife walk you through each step, sharing the cultural history behind every dish and the personal connections to his family. We made tostadas, Pepián (Guatemala’s national dish), and rellenitos for dessert. Milton is warm, personable, and fluent in both English and Spanish. Foodietenango is a standout experience that is delicious, authentic, and full of passion. This was our absolutely favorite activity we did in Antigua, and highly recommend it!

A Personalized and Delicious Antigua Experience with Milton - I had an incredible experience with Milton during a market tour and cooking class, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Milton was very willing to accommodate a last-minute change to my reservation, which I truly appreciated. Since it was just me, I received a more personalized experience, which made everything even better. Walking through the market with Milton was absolutely lovely. It allowed me to learn about the vendors, their food, and see the daily interactions that make Antigua so special. I honestly would have gotten lost without Milton’s guidance! Once we returned to his family’s home, his sister greeted me warmly, and we headed to the rooftop to start the class. There, I was offered drinks and learned about all the additional ingredients we’d be using. Milton explained each step clearly and shared helpful tips to make cooking more efficient. We cooked and ate so much delicious food, and every plate was a real treat — I definitely plan to make each dish again in the future. I truly appreciated the time and personal attention Milton gave just for me. If I return to Antigua with friends, I would definitely choose to do this again so others can experience the fun and flavor of his classes!

Great time with foodietenango - Really enjoyed central market tour and cooking class with Foodietenango. My 16 year old and I loved seeing the market and learning about the sourcing of the ingredients for our class. See prepared tostadas, salsa, guacamole, tortillas. For our main dish we made pepiàn and for dessert, rellenitos. All excellent. Best part was we felt like we were visiting friends while preparing a meal with Milton and his sister. Wonderful hosts!
