Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, embark on a drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. Tarangire is one of Africa’s hidden treasures and is a must-visit for those who cherish wilderness and solitude. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through it and serves as the sole water source during the dry season.

The landscape of Tarangire is remarkably diverse, featuring a unique mix not found elsewhere on the northern safari circuit. It is adorned with ancient baobab trees, which the Maasai believe were the first trees created, and large termite mounds. During the dry season, the intense sun draws moisture from the land, turning the earth a dusty red, while the wet season brings lush bush and tall grasses.

Renowned for its large elephant population, the park is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, dwarf mongoose, impala, buffalo, antelope, and fringe-eared oryx. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards also inhabit the area.

Serengeti National Park

As you drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Serengeti, you’ll begin to appreciate the vastness of this region and be amazed by the abundance of animal and birdlife as you travel through the acacia-dotted savannah.

You have the option to visit a Maasai Village in the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you can meet the Elders, Warriors, women, and children, and learn about the culture, beliefs, and traditions of Tanzania’s last nomadic tribe.

The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most renowned national park and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a year-round destination, with each season offering its unique highlights, the most famous being the annual wildebeest migration, a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater - Today, experience a full-day game drive in the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979, and one of the few places where humans and wildlife coexist harmoniously. The Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for offering Africa’s best game viewing, with a constant abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor.

Upon reaching the Crater’s rim, descend 610 meters into the Crater to begin your safari adventure. Spot the endangered black rhino, along with wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle, and of course, giant tusked elephants. The Crater also boasts the largest known population of lions, and you may also encounter leopards, cheetahs, and scavengers such as spotted hyenas, jackals, and rare wild dogs.

In the late afternoon, return to Arusha for your final evening.
