An awesome adventure with Meru Slopes! - Our dream vacation really began when Victor, our (city) guide to/from the airport, picked us up. He’s an incredibly enthusiastic young man, who was eager to teach us a little Swahili, talk to us about his country, and who did an excellent job navigating us through/around some intense traffic (closed roads, blocked roads, ...) due to the Prime Minister being in town. And when the President was in town at the end of our trip, he again did a masterful job of avoiding delays. What an exceptionally happy and engaging person! Our guide throughout our safari, Douglas, did an excellent job. It was clear his goal was to make all our dreams for this vacation a reality! He managed to exceed our dreams. His depth of experience was clear from day one. Each time we encountered an animal, he somehow managed to get us positioned front and center. He educated us not just on the animals but on his country and the people. We saw every animal, except the elusive leopard. We even saw both black and white rhinos! We went in late February so we did experience a day of the rainy season, with washed out bridges and flooded roads. Yet, this didn’t deter Douglas at all. We still went out and saw all sorts of animals and beautiful lands. And of course, with the time of year, we were gifted with sightings of all the newborn animals as well. I highly recommend Meru Slopes! When local business people asked which company we were with they all had great things to say about Meru Slopes. So, if you want to be treated wonderfully, and have an experience of your life, check out Meru Slopes. We did the 8 day- Wildebeest Migration option and it was pretty darned perfect!

Awesome Trip - Fantastic People - Great Tour Company! - Meru Slopes Tours The staff at Meru Slopes was welcoming and gave us a sense of family. Both of our guides were knowledgeable and excellent drivers. Victor, our city guide had to navigate through extreme traffic and unscheduled road closers to help us get to our destinations. He could backout and turn around in complete gridlock. Douglas our Safari Guide was very knowledgeable, an excellent driver and super friendly. He could see things that that would undoubtable be missed, explain all of the details and habits of the animals and found everything and more that we were hoping to see. The Meru safari camp staff made us feel like family as well. We miss them already.

Incredible trip! - Our safari in Tanzania with Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris was an unforgettable experience. This trip was especially meaningful as I travelled with my grandmother, and the team took such great care of us. Our consultant, Leonard Mkwavi was very helpful and attentive, our guide, Max Elisa Ayo was fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience truly special. Everything was perfectly organised, the accommodation and food were excellent, and we were lucky enough to see all the animals we hoped for. I would highly recommend Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris to anyone considering a safari in Tanzania.

Once in a lifetime experience, guide and staff. Brilliant. - Almachius set us up with 2 days Arusha to Tarangire National Park, 3-4 Serengeti (with a hot air balloon), 5-6 Ndutu, 7-8 Ngorangoro Crater and Arusha. Our guide was Jacob and he made our trip. Knew exactly where to go and (amazingly), how to get there. The middle of nowhere. Saw pretty much every animal, bird, reptile we could have hoped for. Answered every question, swapped jokes and shared the excitement of finding hard to see wild life. Ended with 5 days on a Zanzibar beach in Jambiani with a crew of folks who made you feel right at home. Trip of a lifetime and felt like we made friends at every stop. Love and happiness to all we met.

Great Safari Experiences in Northern Tanzania - An unforgettable safari adventure from start to finish with safari company Meru Slopes, who are based in Arusha. We visited Tarangire NP staying in a luxury tent at Tarangire Safari Lodge (where we could hear lions, zebras and elephants while lying in bed), Serengeti NP (where we did a balloon ride with Miracle Experience - highly recommended), Ngorongoro Crater and Lakes Natron & Manyara. We saw many different wild animals in their natural habitat, including the Big Five and the Ugly Five, had comfortable accommodation with ensuite, had lots of great buffet meals, all included in our package. We really enjoyed our safari adventures in our great 4x4 Landcruiser! Our local driver was a very knowledgeable guide, and his driving four-wheel driving skills were very impressive indeed. Roads are challenging but that's part of the fun! Meru Slopes was very professional and really know their stuff. Can't recommend them highly enough for a fabulous safari experience in Northern Tanzania.

8 Day Mid-Range Serengeti Safari - Lubulu was our driver and guide for our 8 day safari into the Serengeti. His heritage is Maasai, so who could be better, to guide us through the area and share his knowledge. He was excellent throughout, spotting wildlife and sharing information about their behaviours. We couldn’t have asked for more. Our first safari was to Tarangire National Park. We spotted elephants, lion, zebra, and giraffe as well as several bird species. If this was just the first day we were in for a real treat. On the second day we saw a cheetah and her cub. My partner and I had waited 23 years since our first safari to see cheetah, what a thrill. We saw the big 5, the ugly 5, and more. The highlight was the wildebeest migration at the river crossing, a real spectacle, and nothing really prepares you for this event. We sat for over three hours just watching the wildebeest cross the river. The wildebeest just kept coming and coming, you could see them for miles in the distance. It was overwhelming to see the sheer numbers and watching the vultures waiting for one of them to slip up. Lubulu didn’t take us to the Maasai villages, he said his focus was on the wildlife. We did stop at a couple of craft markets, just to take a short break with the option of shopping. I thought the second one was the best. Lubulu looked after us really well. Thank you so much, and whenever I hear the lyrics of Toto Africa it will transport me back to those spectacular moments in Tanzania.

Amazing private safari tour that is much higher end than the term mid-range implies - My wife and I had a fantastic experience on our private 7-day mid-range tour of the Serengeti and the Great Migration Mara River crossing! We spent a lot of time planning this trip, working very closely with our sales representative Jerome Hotti who was both extremely helpful and extremely patient in working with us to plan the trip exactly the way we wanted it, and even met us in our hotel in Arusha the morning before we headed out to make sure everything was just right. We settled on 7 days / 6 nights (rather than 6 or 8 days) and it gave us time to see everything we hoped for. Our very experienced guide and driver, Maeda, did a fantastic job navigating the challenging roads and finding us all of the game we hoped to see on this Safari including several instances of lions. Most important however we were able to witness an unbelievable crossing of the Mara River by a wildebeest herd that must have numbered over a thousand, plus a group of zebras that joined in. The accommodations provided as well as the food served were really first rate. While this is advertised as a "mid-range" tour it is hard for me to imagine that luxury accommodations could offer much more. In particular the Kubu Kubu tented lodge in the central Serengeti was really memorable. The vehicle we traveled in was an oversized Toyota Land Cruiser - 4 rows of seats with an open center aisle and pop-up roof which for the 2 of us was terrific to be able to move around so easily. Maeda kept it well stocked and he navigated us expertly through some very challenging spots. The Serengeti is vast, so a lot of driving is required, particularly to reach the Mara River when staring in Arusha, but it's worth it to see the river crossing. If you do a safari at a different time of year however, it is not necessary to drive all the way to the Mara River, so I'd suggest saving that extra bit of driving. Either way, going to both Tarangire and down into the Ngorongoro Crater are 2 parks not to be missed because there is a high concentration of animals in a relatively (compared to the Serengeti) small area. We also visited a Masai village in Ngorongoro, as well as a local school that Maeda arranged for us on the fly and I'd totally recommend doing both. On the last day we were traveling to Kenya by road at the Namanga border crossing. Our driver Herman got us up there and through immigration and customs right on time, but the guide from the tour company on the Kenya side was delayed for 90 minutes due to car trouble. Rather than leave us waiting on our own, Jerome instructed Herman to wait with us until the Kenyan arrived. This was much appreciated and is indicative of the caring service provided throughout.
