Lake Tana - Lake Tana is Ethiopia’s largest lake, comprising an impressive 50% of the country’s inland water.
The diverse flora and fauna within its murky depths have earned Lake Tana a nomination as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Surrounding the lake is one of Africa’s largest networks of wetlands, which host significant annual bird migrations. The lake itself is home to large populations of Great White Pelicans.
Lake Tana features numerous islands, many of which house 14th-century monasteries adorned with ancient ornaments, frescoes, and captivating wall paintings.
Bahir Dar - Gondar
Gondar - After breakfast, drive north to Gondar. Explore Gondar’s attractions, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, which boasts six castles and several other buildings.
Fasil Ghebbi - Additionally, visit Fasiladas’s Pool, still used for Timket celebrations today, Debre Birhan Selassie Church, renowned for Ethiopia’s most famous ceiling frescoes, and Kuskuam, a former palace in partial ruin overlooking the ancient city of Gondar.
Simien Mountains
Simien Mountains National Park - Depart to Debark town (100 km from Gondar), where the headquarters of Simien Mountains National Park is located. Here, entrance fees are paid, and a scout and local guide will accompany the group. Continue driving to Sankaber (31 km), the first campsite of the National Park. This drive offers a first impression of the scale and beauty of this highland region, with its extraordinary scenery, endemic Gelada Baboons, and the majestic Lammergeyer soaring above. Visit and return to Gondar for an overnight stay.
Gondar - Lalibela
Lalibela - In the morning, fly to Lalibela, the most renowned of Ethiopia’s historical sites. Begin exploring the 11 rock-hewn churches of the remarkable King Lalibela, visiting the Northwestern Cluster of churches - Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha.
Lalibela - Addis Ababa
Lalibela - After lunch, continue to explore the Southeastern Cluster of Lalibela churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Finally, visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, a massive monolithic structure in the shape of a cross, constructed in honor of St. George, the patron saint of Ethiopia. After the visit, transfer to Lalibela Airport for the flight back to Addis Ababa.
In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner featuring cultural food, a traditional special buffet, and local drinks to experience Ethiopia’s culinary delights. After the farewell dinner, transfer to the airport, concluding a memorable experience in Ethiopia.

Its countless mosques and shrines, animated markets, crumbling walls and charming people will make you feel as if you’ve floated right out of the 21st century. It’s the east’s most memorable sight and shouldn’t be missed. As if that wasn’t enough, there are many chances to get up close and personal with wild hyenas. It’s a rare traveller who doesn’t enjoy it here.
