- Tsarevets - Veliko Tarnovo captivates with its location on the hills surrounding the medieval fortress, the tale of the four Asan kings, and the scent of roses. Asan was a military leader and the founder of the Asan dynasty. Together with his brother Petru, recognized as king by the Pope of Rome, they established the Kingdom of the Bulgarian Vlachs in the 12th century, during the Second Bulgarian Empire. Following victories against the Byzantine emperors, with assistance from Romanians north of the Danube, the brothers gained recognition as emperors. The Veliko Tarnovo Fortress is renowned for its outstanding architectural monuments, miniatures, mural paintings, literature, arts, and crafts. It is situated on the main road connecting Europe with Asia Minor in the Yantra River valley. From its glorious days as the king’s capital, much can still be seen today, but the town still holds secrets and legends about hidden royal libraries and treasures from the burned monastery.
- Veliko Tarnovo - Enjoy free time on Samovodene Street with its artisan shops.
- Arbanasi - The name Arbanassi is derived from the Albanian word Arbërës or Arbanas, meaning “land worker.” Enjoy free time for lunch in one of the many traditional restaurants in this charming village. Then visit Konstantzalieva House, built in the 17th century and once owned by a wealthy merchant family. Complete your tour with the half-underground Church of the Nativity, the oldest in Arbanassi. The iconostasis of this church is one of the earliest examples of exquisite woodcarving in Bulgaria. Most of the depictions in the gallery represent the Orthodox Calendar from January, February, and March. These calendar series include stories from The Old Testament, depicting the martyrdom of various saints.
- Ruse Province - If time permits, on the return journey to Bucharest, a short walking tour in Ruse Town will be made, visiting the most important tourist attractions and strolling along the main commercial street of this Bulgarian harbor.
