Shankill Road - history of the area. We begin in 1690, when King William the 3rd arrived in Ireland to defeat King James the 2nd at the famous Battle Of The Boyne. There will then be an explanation about the recent troubles, which started in 1969 and ended when the peace agreement was signed in 1998.
You will be guided through the heart of Loyalist…
- Shankill Road - history of the area. We begin in 1690, when King William the 3rd arrived in Ireland to defeat King James the 2nd at the famous Battle Of The Boyne. There will then be an explanation about the recent troubles, which started in 1969 and ended when the peace agreement was signed in 1998.
You will be guided through the heart of Loyalist walk around the area, where your guide will explain the loyalist wall murals and what they depict. You will have the opportunity to take your own photographs of the loyalalist murals.
- Peace Wall - The peace walls were designed to separate the Catholic (Republicans) and Protestant (Loyalist) populations. The first ‘peace lines’ were erected, following the outbreak of War also known as the 1969 “The Troubles”.
They were built as temporary structures, meant to last only six months. Due to their effective nature they were built higher, longer and made permanent. Today, the walls are adorned with art and messages of hope from tourists.
- Falls Road - Visit the famous Falls road the birth place of the Provisional IRA was formed. Each section of this road and its political mural will be explained in detail and the reasons it exists.
The next stop is the Sinn Fein press office, which is the site of the the most famous mural in the world Bobby Sands mural. You will hear about the history of the Irish hunger strike in H Blocks Prison in 1981.

A must do if you’re in Belfast - I would highly recommend taking this tour. Our tour guide, Rick, was incredibly knowledgeable, having first hand experience with the history of Belfast. I learned more about Belfast and Ireland from Rick before we even started, than I could have ever imagined. The rest of the tour was spectacular. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Trip around Belfast on St. Patrick’s Day - We had a very interesting trip on St.Patrick’s Day to the former “Troubled” areas of the Falls Road & Shankill Road, our guide Ricky was very informative & he has 1st hand experience of these “Troubles”, we should all
get to know Belfast better than London/Paris/Berlin/Barcelona/New York etc

A must do, highlight of our trip - This was the highlight of our trip cannot praise it highly enough. Very knowledgeable driver/ guide who took us up close to all the various attractions. A must for any visitors going to Belfast

Great way to learn local history - We really enjoyed our tour with David. We learned a lot about the Troubles through his personal experience and got a good feel for the city in a short amount of time. Really recommend starting off your trip to Belfast with this tour to get grounded in local history.

Excellent Tour & Driver, But Dismal Customer Service - I booked a 2-hour taxi tour as confirmed in my reservation. However, on the day of the tour, I was informed that I booked a 1 hour and 45 minutes tour. While 15 minutes may not seem like a lot, taxis are paid for by the minute, making that time significant. I reached out with warm messages about my concerns, only to be met with a dismissive “TYS.” This unprofessional response and lack of accountability is very disappointing. I hope the company improves its service and driver management to avoid similar issues in the future.

Good tour but not worth the premium price. - Good tour. Very good history lesson.
Helps us understand the terrible situation this country has lived through.
I had hoped to hear a more balanced viewpoint of the Troubles since the price of this tour was high compared to other black taxi tours.

Very disappointed - Our tour was scheduled for 8:00 am. A couple of days prior, I received a message asking if we could move the time to 9:30 am due to rush hour traffic. Because we had another tour booked that afternoon, I requested that we start no later than 9:00 am. I did not hear back from the tour operator, and they never showed up. Unfortunately, my morning was wasted waiting. My suggestion is that if traffic is an issue at 8:00 am, don’t offer that as a tour time.
