- Belgrade - The tour begins at 8 a.m. from your accommodation in Belgrade.
- Manasija Monastery - Enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour drive to our first stop, Manasija Monastery, nestled among the green hills of the vibrant Resava gorge. Built in the early 15th century during the reign of Despot Stefan Lazarevic, the complex is encircled by 12 towers designed to protect the Church of Saint Trinity from the Ottomans. The Manasija monastery fortification, with its walls and towers, is the best-preserved fortification complex in medieval Serbia. The monastery’s frescoes are considered one of the greatest achievements of medieval Serbian art, making it a true gem of Serbian medieval culture.
- Resavska Cave - The tour continues to the 80-million-year-old Resava Cave, discovered by a local shepherd in 1962 and opened to the public ten years later. Today, it is one of the most visited caves in this part of Europe, known for its rich cave formations like stalagmites and stalactites. The tunnels stretch for 4.5 km, with over 2 km explored and 800 m accessible to visitors. The cave maintains a constant temperature of 7°C year-round, with air humidity between 80 and 100%. The cave tour lasts 40 minutes, so warm clothing is recommended.
- Vodopad Veliki Buk - Next, we head to Lisine waterfall, one of Eastern Serbia’s top attractions. Here, in this stunning location, we will take a lunch break, offering you the chance to try the best trout fish in Serbia.
- Krupajsko Vrelo - Our journey continues to Krupaj Spring, located 30 km from Lisine Waterfall on the west side of Beljanica Mountain. This karst spring is one of the most beautiful in Eastern Europe, with its turquoise waters sure to leave you breathless.
- Belgrade - We then drive back to Belgrade (2 hours) and drop you off at your accommodation.

I felt truly cared for by both Nina and Milan on this tour and hope to book more tours with them in the future. The standard has been set for exceptionally high after meeting Nina and Milan. Truly a gem of an experience. A must visit! - What a wonderful day out! We were collected from our hotel and dropped back at the end of the day so it couldn’t have been easier. Jelena, our guide, was so knowledgeable and keen to ensure that we had enough information to really appreciate everything we saw and shared some lovely anecdotes along the way. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions too. Milan our driver was excellent. Both had great humour and made the day fun. The mini bus was comfortable and air conditioned and ample water was provided.
Manasija monastery is stunning and well worth the visit and Resava Cave is excellent. Jelena explained everything as we went along and was able to get us through avoiding a large group which were due to visit at a similar time. There are quite a lot of stairs so if you are not sure re mobility I’d advise checking beforehand. However nothing that was too difficult under foot and there were well constructed staircases with handrails.
The lunch stop was great with excellent food and Jelena wisely advised us to order half portions as they were very generous. The fresh trout was delicious! Jelena advised that we could walk to a 14th century monastery near our lunch spot (Gornjak) which was well worth the visit. Small but beautiful and I went to explore while lunch was being prepared.
We also stopped at a trout farm and beautiful waterfall, Veliki Buk, and Krupaj Spring with turquoise waters.
After our lunch stop we had the opportunity to try Rakija from the more well known plum brandy to quince, walnut and apricot. A fun way to try local drinks and a gift of a shot glass as a souvenir.
Thank you for an excellent experience.
