- Changu Narayan - Changu Narayan Temple (World Heritage Site)
Located on a ridge with a view of the Valley, approximately 12 km east of Kathmandu, this temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is one of the finest and oldest examples of pagoda architecture, constructed in 323 AD by King Hari Dutta Varma. The temple is adorned with intricate sculptures and carvings, and its elevated position offers a stunning view of the Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings.
- Patan Durbar Square - Similar to its counterpart in Kathmandu, this site is a captivating blend of palace buildings, artistic courtyards, and elegant pagoda temples. The former royal palace complex is the heart of Patan’s religious and social activities and includes a museum with a collection of bronze statues and religious artifacts. A notable monument here is a 17th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Krishna, constructed entirely of stone.
- Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Alongside Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, this is the third medieval city-state in the Kathmandu Valley, renowned for its medieval art and architecture. Situated 14 km east of Kathmandu City, it was established in the 9th Century. Bhaktapur features three major squares filled with a magnificent array of temples, overlooked by the Palace of 55 Windows, built by King Bhupatindra Malla. The Nyatapola Temple, also constructed by King Bhupatindra Malla, is a prime example of Pagoda style, standing on five terraces, each adorned with pairs of figures - two renowned strong men, two elephants, two lions, two griffins, and two goddesses.
