We Flew Across Hawaii to See Kilauea — It Erupted the Next Day - We had an amazing experience with Big Island VIP on a single-day inter-island trip to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Our private guide, Rob, was knowledgeable, fun, and made the day incredibly engaging—especially for our 13-year-old.
The tour was fully customized for our family and included exploring lava fields, learning about the volcanoes, and even watching a volcano documentary on the van’s video screen between stops. Water and snacks were provided, which was a great touch.
We missed the most recent eruption by less than 24 hours (sigh!) but Rob sent photos and videos of it to us which was super nice!
A fantastic, educational experience and a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend! 🌋

Volcanos, Lava Caves, waterfalls- Amazing - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Volcano Tour with Big Island VIP!
Our tour with Big Island VIP was absolutely fantastic! Rob was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many great insights about the island’s volcanoes, history, and culture. He went above and beyond — even acting as our personal photographer for the day and capturing incredible memories. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the Big Island! 🌋📸🌺

Once in a Lifetime Volcano Day - We enjoyed the Ultimate Hilo Volcano Tour with Rob. He met us on the pier at 8 am. We beat the crowds by starting early. Very informative videos in the van on the way up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We parked at Volcano House and viewed the eruption that began the night before our arrival. After viewing the eruption, we saw a lava tube in the rain forest, craters, fissures and lava flows. While out on Chain of Craters Road, Rob noticed increased activity back at Kilauea. We returned for lunch at Volcano House to see a lava fountain 600-1000 feet high. It was a once in a lifetime experience! Rob showed us a wonderful and informative day. Before our return to the cruise ship, we saw Rainbow Falls and a black sand beach. Also, Rob took many pictures all day and provided a free upload for us.

If you’re looking for a phenomenal experience, look no further! - We travelled as a family of ten on the Pride of America cruise. We booked this private tour wanting a more personal experience. The entire day from start to finish was fabulous. Skylar was great, very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He made sure that the entire family had enough time to enjoy the sites, and timed everything perfectly to ensure we made it back to port on time. Highly, highly, recommend.

The Perfect VIP Volcano experience! - Today's tour was truly amazing. I doubt there is a more knowledgeable guide for the volcanic National Park than Jodi. She was engaging, entertaining, and very personable, going above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend her to everyone and will definitely be passing on her name to my friends and travel agent. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing her again in the future. (Group of 8 - parents and 6 young adults 20’s/early 30’s)

FANTASTIC private tour of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park! - Our trip to Hawaii was a gift to celebrate many different events all at once (wedding anniversary, graduation from college, 30th and 60th birthdays), so we wanted to make every day special. Touring with Big Island VIP definitely made our day in Hilo and Volcanoes National Park extremely special.
The four of us were cruising on the NCL Pride of America and had one day in Hilo, and we wanted to make the most of our time at the Park. We were originally going to rent a car and try to see the park on our own, but decided that we would be able to learn more with a guide. Rob picked us up at the pier early, and we were able to beat the crowds to the main tour spots, as well as go to locations in the park that not many people get to see. There is so much to see and do in the park, and we definitely appreciated Rob taking us to so many wonderful places. My husband was especially fascinated and had a wonderful dialogue with Rob about everything we saw throughout the entire day. The tour is enhanced by videos in the van explaining what we were about to see - the history of the volcanoes, the different types of lava, and the various eruptions that have occurred over the years. Rob is an encyclopedia of information, and it is evident how much he loves the island and sharing it with people. A bonus was that pictures were taken throughout the day, and shared with us after the tour. We all had a wonderful day (and had an equally wonderful day in Kona, for we booked a tour with Rob the next day as well)!

Blown away! - Jodi was amazing! The tour was informative and fun. She made our group feel like part of her family. We were thrilled that she took so many pictures and gave us the digital copies. We had a group of 8 that one of our members put together based on Jodi’s suggestion of how to get others on the tour. Totally worth the cost we paid. I highly recommend Jodi and her company.

Memorable Volcanoes Tour - Very happy that we booked this tour! Skylar picked our group of 10 up on time and was well-prepared with rain gear, flashlights, water, and snacks. He took photos throughout the day for our group so we could just ralax and take in the sights. We had a tour around Hilo and saw some of the well-known landmarks, parks, and waterfalls before driving up to Volcanoes National Park. Everything was well-organized and very informative. Getting a first hand account of the history and culture of the area, information about native plants and animals, and of course about volcanoes made our trip so memorable. Thank you Skylar and Big Island VIP! Definitely recommend!!
