The day begins with a pick-up from your accommodation at approximately 8:15 a.m., as we head towards the valleys near Sucre. Our first stop is the RÃo Chico area, renowned for providing fruits and vegetables to Sucre. This region is predominantly inhabited by Quechua indigenous communities.
We travel by vehicle through several communities for about an hour. These communities preserve a strong cultural identity through the Quechua language and communal farming practices. We pause to purchase any necessary items.
Following this, we embark on a gentle walk to the entrance of Monte Villca Park. Here, a local guide shares insights into the history, customs, and the natural and cultural wealth of the park, which safeguards native forests, Andean wildlife, and ancient Quechua routes.
Monte Villca is an ecological reserve located in the Andes foothills, home to species such as the red-fronted macaw and Andean fox. It plays a vital role in conserving biodiversity and cultural heritage.
After a 4-hour hike, we take in the views, engage in birdwatching, and unwind at recreational haciendas.
