A highlight for many guests is the Liberation Army Soldier statue. Adorned with a hammer-and-sickle emblem in its grasp and a drum magazine submachine gun slung around its neck, this statue is a complete representation. Standing at 6 meters in height, this menacing-looking statue of a Soviet soldier was previously perched atop Gellért Hill in the heart of Budapest, visible from all around.

So fascinating—so glad I decided to go - I found this place fascinating! I visited the Soviet Union a few years before the Wall fell. This park has the exact same vibe. It is definitely worth buying the little guide they sell bc it has info on each of the displays including the symbolic message the Soviets were trying to get across. Like in the former USSR, the statues are gigantic, brutal and powerful and creepy too. It doesn’t take much to imagine them looming over significant places in Budapest.
Make sure to view the propaganda films, includes in the admission price. They are fascinating. Have English subtitles.
I suppose if you are not interested in Soviet or Hungarian history, you may not like the park as much as I did. It was def worth the price of the taxi I took. You can also take the metro + bus but I didn’t have the time. Also make sure to go to the House of Terrorist if you like the park.

Not to be missed! - Incredible place testimony to Hungary's Communist past. Often monumental outdoor statues cleverly arranged , a museum
... it is a place out of time! I advise you to buy the paper guide for complete explanations especially on the genesis of the project that resulted in this Park (several languages available) Thank you to the young woman of the reception who speaks several languages and is very pleasant! Small cafe on site. Came by bus ( 101E) and left by taxi ( Bolt) without problem.

Impressive and exciting! - A must! We went there at the opening, on a cold and foggy day, perfect atmosphere to discover these impressive statues (in particular for their size) erected to the glory of communism. Then visit a mini museum rich in documents, photos,... of that terrible time. Good value for money, very friendly host lady.

Must go for history nerds - Really a fantastic open air museum, where you are imagined in the beautiful brutalist art stream, which communism carries with it.

Yes visit Memento Park. - This was a little slower on my list, and my wife was no to excited, but it delivered. Reading some of the descriptions on living in Communism was an eye opener and kind of creepy.

Would recommend - We loved our visit here! From our accommodation we got the M underground and then the local bus here, via the BudapestGO app, and nothing could have been simpler. The whole experience was great, from the defunct Trabant car, and the lady at the kiosk with a prompt card for English (no criticism intended, as I have absolutely no Hungarian language).
We bought the guide book, which was a great help, and put a lot into perspective. It is shameful that elsewhere in Europe so little is generally known of this tumultuous period of history.

Beautiful insights into a historical era - With my daughter I was at Memento Park and we both found it very entertaining. By public transport you can get there quite well (bus stop in the immediate vicinity). The exhibits are only marked with artist, name of the statue, year, location, i.e. you should already know a bit about the people who are depicted there or look with their smartphone. In a barracks you can also watch some more text-heavy exhibits and films. All in all, it was worth it, I didn't find the entrance quite cheap - but to get such a system often costs more than you think.

Budapest City - Awesome City break eather solo, couples or friends.
A plethora of history, places of interest, cool bars, restaurants, and shopping. A super range of accommodation from hostels to 5* hotels.

Communist keepsake - We loved it but can’t award more than 3 stars because it is quite literally just a field with some of the most poignant Communist statues, all assembled together. A bit of a trek out of Budapest on trams and buses or drive too,
If you are interested in history and want to get up close with sone of most iconic piece from this era then it is for you. The guide book is a good purchase, very nicely put together with interesting information. Plus a keepsake of your own.

Nice outside park on a sunny day - Nice, a bit far from town if you are commuting with a bus.
Worth seeing if it's a sunny day. A piece of history.
