Bo-Kaap’s unique architecture, cobblestone streets, and brightly colored walls offer fantastic photo opportunities, while its 300-year-old history provides much to appreciate. Additionally, Bo-Kaap is renowned for its delectable Cape Malay cuisine, which blends influences from Malaysia, Africa, and the Indonesian Archipelago.
- Table Mountain National Park - Table Mountain is among the world’s oldest mountains, formed over 500 million years ago when the continents separated. Its flat top is due to glaciers when the mountain was at sea level. Tectonic activity has since elevated it to 1,067 meters above sea level. It is recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
- Camps Bay - This affluent suburb of Cape Town is famous for its stunning white sandy beach, palm trees, and the Twelve Apostles Mountain range backdrop. It offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Camps Bay Beach is a popular spot for watching sunsets, and the area comes alive at night with trendy bars, cocktail lounges, and clubs.
- Hout Bay - Just 20 minutes from Camps Bay, Hout Bay is a picturesque town surrounded by dramatic mountains. The name “Hout Bay” means “Wood Bay” in Dutch, and historically, the Dutch East India Company sourced timber here for building settlements and ships. Affectionately known as the Republic of Hout Bay, the town is isolated by mountains, accessible only via mountain passes.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive - Renowned as one of the world’s most scenic drives, Chapman’s Peak Drive was constructed in 1915 and opened to the public in 1922. It connects Hout Bay and Noordhoek and is named after John Chapman, an 18th-century pilot who guided ships through the treacherous waters of the Cape of Good Hope. The road is considered an engineering marvel, offering breathtaking views with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.
- Noordhoek Farm Village - This charming coastal village is located at the base of Chapman’s Peak Drive. Known for its rural and tranquil atmosphere, it features a mix of farmlands, horse paddocks, and vineyards. The village has a laid-back vibe and a strong, close-knit community. Coffee lovers will enjoy the freshly roasted beans, and there are bakeries for those with a sweet tooth, as well as souvenir shops.
- Simon’s Town - A historic naval town with a rich history dating back to the 18th century, Simon’s Town has served as a strategic naval base for both the British Royal Navy and the South African Navy. Established in 1687 and named after Simon Van Der Stel, the second Governor of the Cape, the town played a significant role in maritime activities and naval operations. It features well-preserved historic buildings and Victorian-era architecture.
- Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Famous for its colony of African Penguins, also known as Jackass Penguins due to their distinctive braying sound, Boulders Beach is one of the few places where you can get close to penguins in their natural habitat. It’s also a perfect beach for swimming on hot, sunny days.
- Cape Point Nature Reserve - Located at the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula, this reserve is known for its stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and historical significance. It is home to wildlife such as baboons, antelopes, ostriches, and a diverse range of bird species. The Fynbos vegetation in the park is part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, known for its incredibly rich and diverse flora, with many plant species found nowhere else on earth. The reserve is part of the Greater Table Mountain National Park.
- Cape of Good Hope - A rocky headland on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula, the Cape of Good Hope is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, rocky coastline, pristine beaches, and historical significance during the Age of Exploration. First rounded by Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Diaz in 1488, it was initially named ‘Cape of Storms’ due to its treacherous weather. However, King John II of Portugal renamed it ‘Cape of Good Hope’ for the optimistic prospects of a sea route to the East. It became a crucial sea route for ships traveling to and from the East. The Cape of Good Hope is also geographically significant as the most southwestern point on the African continent.
- Cape Point - Situated within Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is known for its dramatic cliffs, stunning ocean views, and diverse fauna and flora. It was a crucial landmark for early European explorers navigating the seas to the East, marking a major milestone in the quest for a sea route to Asia and leading to the establishment of important trade routes. The construction of the lighthouse in 1859 further enhanced its role in maritime navigation.

An unforgettable day in Cape Town and the Cape - Best Tour Ever!! - This was absolutely the best excursion ever! Doney is an amazing guide - personable, enthusiastic and very informative. Every minute of the day was perfectly planned and executed. We saw everything on the itinerary (something that rarely seems to happen on tours) and learned a lot.
The penguins were my personal favorite part of the day, but each stop, from Cape Point and the Ostrich farm to Table Mountain, had spectacular vistas and experiences. It really made me fall in love with the city and the country.

Safe, easy going well versed tour - Great personalised tour. Our tour guide was insightful and was able to share her vast knowledge of South African history and heritage. We had some special requests such as looking at South African art and she had no problem fitting it into the itinerary. I would recommend this tour provider. It was stress free and a lovely day out, would do again.
