Emberra cooking experience - WOW..OMG..WOW!! As if the ride several miles up the Charges river in a dug out canoe (had a moter) thru the jungle, amazing views of birds. You get to the village and walk thru more jungle to a small area with tables, running water and fire. We chopped the veggies and ground the masa for empanadas and they cooked all over the fire. So special ...so good. No other experience like we have ever done!! Thank you PanamaDay Trips.

Real indigenous adventure - This was possibly the best tour I have had in Panama. We've been repeat visitors to Panama for more than ten years. We've had some great tours and some not so good. This is the real deal. We rode up river in a dugout canoe to a real indigenous community. We prepared the same foods that they eat as lead by some incredible women. The fish is caught in the river we traveled. The walk and talk about the natural medicines and seasonings the jungle offers is amazing. If you get the chance. Don't miss this. Added plus no extra charges. The price listed is the price.

Great experience - Is was the best tour we have experienced in Panama. We are here for 6 weeks and have taken many tours. They picked us up on time and traveled down the river in a dug out Indian canoe for 30 minutes to the village. Scenery was stunning. Our cooking instructors were native and showed us there way of preparation and cooking on a open wood flame. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the surroundings and culture. We will always treasure this experience.

Embera cooking class - The Embera cooking class in the Chagres national park was in amazing experience. Our guide/chef was very knowledgeable. It was wonderful to be part of the Embera Village the newly built kitchen for the cooking class was on the edge of the river. Preparing and learning about the foods we were cooking was great. Highly recommend this experience.

Embrera cooking experience - This excursion was such a highlight of our Panama vacation. Everything was perfectly arranged, the day was smooth. Our children (and we) were fascinated by the Embrera life, the beauty of the Chagras River, the people in the village so friendly; our tour guide so knowledgeable, down-to-earth, and helpful! Cooking side-by-side with the Embrera women was enlightening, we learned so much and the food was delicious. They accommodated our vegetarian preference with care. This is an adventure you don’t want to miss, we were so thankful we did it!

Cooking, Culture, and Connection in an Emberá Village - I had an amazing time on this tour. The experience felt genuine, respectful, and deeply meaningful. Everyone in the community was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel truly honored to be there. Learning to cook traditional Emberá dishes using fresh, local ingredients was not only delicious but also a beautiful way to connect with their history and culture. This is not a staged or touristic experience—it’s a real visit to the oldest Emberá community in Chagres National Park, and that authenticity makes all the difference. I would absolutely love to return and repeat this experience in 2026. Highly recommended.

Awesome!!! Love it - Memorable Day in Embera Drua The river ride up was peaceful, surrounded by jungle sounds and birds. Embera Drua itself is quiet and welcoming, a real contrast to the busier villages we passed along the way. The cooking class was hands-on—we made chicken soup and empanadas, but the focus was more on understanding the ingredients and their importance in local culture. The hosts shared stories about family life, how they source ingredients, and the meaning behind some traditional practices. Walking around the village afterward, seeing the homes and daily activities, made the experience feel immersive and authentic. Sitting down to enjoy the food we helped prepare at the end was really satisfying and brought the whole day together.
