Beautiful scenery and a relaxing day - We went on this tour in winter and really enjoyed it. The views were beautiful, and the day was well-organised. The train ride was smooth and scenic. Just a heads-up for winter travellers: it gets dark earlier, so we missed some of the views on the way back. One of the highlights was stopping at the giant rock formations at Castle Hill. It was such a unique and peaceful place to walk around. Our guide was great and shared interesting facts along the way, which made the trip even more enjoyable. The snowy hills, rivers, and stunning mountain views made the entire experience feel truly special. It was a relaxing change of pace and a great way to see more of New Zealand.

Arthur’s Pass van and train ride from Christchurch - The van picked us up on time at the meeting point in Christchurch. Paul, the driver was super nice. We did several stops, the first one was at the Waimakariri river Jet boat thrills. It’s an optional activity that I recommend. The Jetboat is designed for shallow waters, it goes at high speed through a canyon with beautiful views. Afterwards we stopped at Castle Hill, a short trail with curious rock formations. The last stop was at the Devil’s Punchbowl waterfall. If you are in decent shape, please consider going up the trail up to the waterfall, the trail is very well maintained and the waterfall is gorgeous. We rode the Tranzalpine train back. The train is very nice and the conductors are so polite! You can go to the cafe car and get some food or drinks. The view from the train is beautiful. This tour takes the whole day but is really worth it

One is the best... - We didn't have much time in Wellington but I wanted to travel along the transalpine rail. And I think this tour allows us to see a bit of New Zealand and to go on the transalpine rail all in one. John was a marvellous driver with lots of stories to tell. Our tour group was just lovely and we clicked from the word go which made the whole trip just memorable. The scenery was out of this world. New Zealand is beautiful and I am very glad that the kiwis have got it right; to maintain and preserve their pristine wildlife and nature.

Love trains and this one was perfect. Great tour. - Amazing views. The host for the day was very good. Helpful and informative as well as a very good driver. The Otira viaduct was a must see view. Its very special. Devils punchbowl walk and waterfall was worth while and the rocks at Castle Hill amazing. There was only 9 on our tour so a smaller more personal size van was great. To be perfect we would have had snow to the ground and daylight for the home trip but that's nothing the tour people can change so it was a lovely days trip.

Be prepared for a Scenic Train ride in darkness! - Jess, our tour guide was awesome, bubbly and friendly with great local knowledge. I was extremely disappointed with the train journey back to Christchurch in the dark, I had been looking forward to a scenic train journey as per advertised photo and hadn't read the fine print. Don't understand why the operator put it in the fine print which resulted in dissapointed customers. I wasn't the only one that felt deceived. Regret not selecting the other tour company that starts you off in the train and returns by bus. Unfortunately I only found this out the following day.
