This mosque is notable for its Indo-Saracenic architecture, featuring domes shaped like pomegranates. Its most distinctive characteristic is the red and white painted bricks arranged in contrasting patterns, earning it the nickname, the Red Mosque. Currently, Muslim women are restricted from visiting due to religious guidelines, but there are plans to create a dedicated section for women to pray in the future. Although it is an Islamic place of worship, visitors from all faiths are warmly welcomed.

As a prominent city landmark, this complex is situated on a lake and includes a temple, a conference hall for Buddhist monks, and a vocational training institute.
- Pettah - Pettah Market, also known as Manning Market, is an open market in Pettah, Colombo, renowned for its wholesale distribution from Colombo.
- Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct - The Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct is among the most appealing shopping centers in the country. Originally a hospital during the Dutch occupation of Sri Lanka, it is the oldest building in the historic Colombo Fort area. It has also served as a police station and an apothecary before being transformed into its current form in 2011. The building features two courtyards that occasionally host live music and includes cafes, restaurants, shops, and bars. It’s a delightful spot to relax in the shade, with its low-slung tiled roofs and charming colonnades.
- New Kathiresan Kovil - The Kathiresan Kovil, or Puthiya (new) Kathiresan Kovil, is a striking temple easily visible from Galle Road in Bambalapitiya. The temple is dedicated to the war god Skanda or Murugan. Kovils are typically vertical structures lavishly decorated with Hindu mythological imagery. At the corners of the Kathiresan Kovil’s roof, Bhairava the Frightful, a fierce form of Shiva, can be seen.
