Begin your journey at Coricancha, the “Temple of the Sun,” commissioned by Inca Pachacutec (1438-1471). This site served as the foundation for the Santo Domingo Convent following the Spanish arrival. The temple’s walls were adorned with gold sheets, and its courtyards featured golden corn and life-sized llamas. Next, visit the Cathedral (1560 - 1654), renowned as one of the most magnificent Spanish colonial churches in America. Designed in the shape of a Latin Cross, it houses approximately 400 colonial paintings from the Cusco art school, along with remarkable works in gold, silver, and precious stones. Finally, proceed to San Blas, known for its impressive stone structures located a short distance from the Main Square. The distinctive precision of Inca walls can still be observed at the base of many buildings. Today, this area is a delightful mix of small cobblestone streets, popular among artisans who display and sell their creations on the street.
