You’ll also learn about the legend of the Brahan Seer, a 17th-century prophet whose predictions led to his untimely demise at the Point.

Continuing to Cromarty, you’ll visit the birthplace and childhood home of Hugh Miller, a pioneering Scottish geologist, folklorist, and fossil hunter. His life and discoveries are showcased in his preserved cottage, now a museum.

Enjoy lunch in town, and after further exploration, either take the ferry to Tain to discover Clan Ross or return to the Black Isle to Beauly, home to the 13th-century priory ruins and the famous Campbell’s of Beauly outfitters.

Inverness to Skye - Strongholds and Stunning Scenery

Isle of Skye - En route to Skye, a stop at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle is a must.

Situated where three lochs converge, the castle’s intriguing history predates its fame from BBC branding and James Bond films! You’ll have ample time to explore the battlements and castle halls and enjoy lunch before crossing the bridge to Skye.

Traveling through Skye, you’ll encounter breathtaking landscapes, including the Fairy Pools, and head to the northern Trotternish Peninsula. Stops include the Old Man of Storr, a famous collection of rock pinnacles that symbolize the island. Return to Edinburgh via the Kyle of Lochalsh – The Scenic Route

Kyle of Lochalsh - After checking out of Cuillin Hills Hotel, travel by taxi (included in price) to the Kyle of Lochalsh, a journey of about an hour.

Then, board the legendary Kyle Line: a railway journey through remote Highland terrain, passing lochs, glens, and wildlife-rich forests. This 2.5-hour ride to Inverness is consistently rated as one of Europe’s finest rail journeys. You have the option to book your own accommodation and return to Edinburgh the next day to avoid a late arrival.
