Into the Heart of the Desert

The sun had barely risen when our adventure began, the air still crisp with the promise of a new day. My fellow thrill-seekers and I were picked up from our hotel in Cairo, the city slowly waking up as we made our way to the Fayoum oasis. Our guide, Yaya, was a beacon of enthusiasm and knowledge, his Italian fluency a delightful surprise for some of my companions.
