Hagia Irene Museum - The Second Largest Church After Hagia Sophia:
Located in the outer courtyard of Topkapı Palace, Hagia Irene is the oldest church of the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine) and was the second largest church in Istanbul after Hagia Sophia. The name Hagia Irene, meaning “sacred peace” (Hagia Eirene), holds special significance as the birthplace of Turkish museology.
Hagia Irene, a classic example of Byzantine architecture, was constructed on the site of an ancient temple in 330. During Emperor Justinianus’s reign, the Nika Revolt in 532 resulted in the destruction of both Hagia Sophia and Hagia Irene, leading to their simultaneous reconstruction.

Guests will be picked up from their hotel (located in the city center). The Sultans’ Tombs are discreetly situated behind the Hagia Sophia. There are five sultans interred here: Sultan Selim II, Sultan Murad III, Sultan Mehmed III, Sultan Mustafa I, and Sultan Ibrahim I.

Guests will be picked up from their hotel (located in the city center). The Sultans’ Tombs are discreetly situated behind the Hagia Sophia. There are five sultans interred here: Sultan Selim II, Sultan Murad III, Sultan Mehmed III, Sultan Mustafa I, and Sultan Ibrahim I.
Topkapi Palace served as the residence of the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years. The palace complex includes four main courtyards, significant relics of the Muslim world, and the clock and sword of Muhammad.
Please note, the Sultans’ Tombs are closed on Mondays and will be substituted with a visit to the Little Hagia Sophia Mosque. Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays. (The Harem is not included in the tour and requires an additional entrance fee.)
