Crossing Borders: The Journey Begins

The sun was just beginning to rise as I found myself in the heart of The Gambia, ready to embark on a journey that promised to be both thrilling and enlightening. The Fathala Wildlife Safari was my destination, a place where the wild heart of Africa beats in harmony with the rhythms of nature. As a wildlife photographer, the prospect of capturing the majestic rhinoceros, giraffe, and zebra in their natural habitat was a dream come true.

The journey began with a Land Rover ride to the Banjul to Barra ferry crossing. The ferry was a microcosm of life in The Gambia, bustling with locals and travelers alike, each with their own story to tell. As the ferry made its way across the water, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for the adventure that lay ahead.

Into the Wild: Fathala Wildlife Reserve

Upon reaching the Fathala Wildlife Reserve, I was immediately struck by the sheer beauty of the landscape. The reserve is a sanctuary for some of Africa’s most iconic species, and I was eager to explore its vast expanses. Armed with my camera and a trusty pair of binoculars, I set out on a safari that promised to be as educational as it was exhilarating.
