Amazing day trip to Stratford upon Avon. - I had an incredible day trip from London to Stratford-upon-Avon and Bourton-on-the-Water. From start to finish, everything was seamless and enjoyable. Our guide, Oliver, was engaging and knowledgeable. Kee, our driver, was also fantastic: calm and courteous. While all stops on the tour were thoroughly enjoyable, the highlight for me was the visit to Shakespeare’s school in Stratford-upon-Avon. Stepping into that historic space felt like stepping back in Shakespeare’s time. This trip exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail, the pacing, and expertise of the team, including museum guides —were exceptional. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

New Shakespeare fan. - I picked this tour for the Cotswolds but was not very interested in Shakespeare. However, after the Stratford tour I am now interred in Shakespeare! The Cotswolds were beautiful, towns and countryside. Very comfortable and clean bus. Tour guide was very good (Eugene).

Canceled - It was canceled without notice and they sent me to the Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford one. I would have preferred more time in Stratford-upon-Avon. However, Apol and Elvio were excellent and I enjoyed myself.

Long and short tour - I booked this tour because I was looking for a day trip to see the Shakespeare sites in Stratford as a day trip from central London. If your goal is to simply see his house and school you will accomplish that during this tour. However you won’t get the chance to do much more than hurry through the house, his school, and Anne’s house. The site guides at the two houses offered little info without being prompted. Unfortunately our tour bus driver had the wrong address set as his destination and so he drove 40 minutes past Stratford before our guide informed him to turn back. As a result we lost over an hour of time which we could have used in Stratford. Instead we rushed through Shakespeare’s house and school ( the school was most interesting) before being given 30 minutes on our own in Stratford to get lunch and get back on the bus. No time seemed to be taken from the final, less interesting stop in the Cotswold which is a rural town with a creek and ice cream shops. There we were given a full hour which I struggled to fill and found a bit confusing. A full day tour in Stratford with the Shakespeare environment would be a great tour but I don’t know that one exists. Other recommendations I have for this tour include letting us know there will be three chances to get food (Anne’s house has a cafe and there’s nothing to do but eat during that hour in the Cotswold). Our guide told us the half hour spent in Stratford was our only chance for food all day so we spent half of the precious 30 mins in Stratford in a Starbuck’s line. Also, on 3 occasions different members of our tour group were late returning to the group, further cutting into our time outside the bus. Though I understand the guide can’t force a group of adults to all come back at the time she tells us, some creative idea could be introduced, like a motivational speech by our guide before the first site to remind us that we are all responsible for each other’s precious time in Stratford and to come back on time not just because it’s the right thing to do but for every single person on the bus to enjoy their vacation. Also the air conditioner in our tour van didn’t work well and it was over 90 degrees outside. With the summers getting hotter, A/C upgrades would be a real benefit for hot summer tours. Additionally, if the tour loses time for any reason like we did with the driving mishap, consider taking time from the Cotswold stop to retain all possible time in Stratford. Finally, you might consider adding a short tour stop at Shakespeare’s grave which is near the school included in the tour. I sought it out myself, ran to it during our brief time in Stratford, and am so glad I did.

Pass on this - I’ve done the Cotswolds and or Stratford on Avon several times. Always enjoyed it immensely. This time, terrible. No advance notice of all the increased bus time due to increased traffic congestion, long walk from bus due to bus parking restrictions, eliminations of two towns on the Cotswold part of the tour. Bottom line if you want to spend forever on a bus or walking to or from a bus with minimal time at the attraction … go for it!
