Arrival in Arusha

Arusha Region - Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transported to Pazuri Inn Arusha for an overnight stay. Here, you can unwind and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead. Nestled at the base of the stunning Mount Meru, Arusha is renowned as the safari capital of Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit. This vibrant city boasts a fascinating blend of bustling markets, lively traffic, historic colonial architecture, and modern amenities, including coffee shops with WiFi and a variety of excellent restaurants.

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park - With a packed lunch, you will leave Arusha for a two-hour journey through the Maasai steppe to Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, you’ll be welcomed by a landscape adorned with majestic baobabs rising from the acacia parkland, providing a stunning backdrop for the large herds of African elephants roaming among them. Other mammals inhabiting this area include lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, black-backed jackals, Kirk’s dik-diks, dwarf and banded mongoose, impalas, Beisa oryxes, steinboks, and African hares. Expect to see buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and waterbuck. Bird species you might encounter include the Maasai ostrich, white-headed vulture, African scops owl, and the endemic ashy starling. Lunch will be enjoyed in the park. Later in the afternoon, you’ll head to Bougainvillea Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Tarangire National Park - Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast at your lodge, you will travel to Lake Manyara for a full-day game drive. The park is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, lush acacia forest, giant figs, and mahogany trees, as well as a thriving population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents also include giraffes, elephants, impalas, and numerous buffalo. The lake is home to a significant number of hippos. Unique features of this park include tree-climbing lions, flamingos along the lake shore, and the ground hornbill and crested eagle. The landscapes of Lake Manyara are indescribable, and the game drives along the lake offer stunning photo opportunities with giraffes and buffalo in the foreground and the lake (and its flamingos) in the background. Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, you will journey to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Although the drive is long, it is spectacular. Witnessing the Serengeti for the first time is unforgettable. As you enter the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name means “endless plains” in the local language. The park spans 6,900 square miles (18,000 sq. km), with plains stretching to the horizon, challenging your senses and perception of distance. It is home to the Great Migration, with two million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes. For big cats and other large predators, it’s the ideal place to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many famous television scenes have been filmed here. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Tanzania Bush Camps.

Serengeti National Park Full Game Drive

Serengeti National Park - After breakfast at your camp, embark on a full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti offers arguably the most thrilling game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and hundreds of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.

The drama of predators versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while high densities of cheetahs prowl the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species are found here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat. Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater - On this day, an early wake-up is recommended for a morning game drive (when animals are most active) and to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises. Then, proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. It is one of the few places on the continent where you can see the black rhino. The concentration of African wildlife here is the highest on the continent. The crater features a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a high concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It is also famous for its elephants, which are the largest in the world with enormous tusks, thanks to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and grasses. After lunch, enjoy a short game drive before ascending the crater and exiting Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ngorongoro Crater - Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi - Today promises to be unique and different. You will rise early, just before sunrise, and follow your guide to meet the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last true nomadic tribes in Africa. After learning about the tribe, you will join them in their morning activities. This off-the-beaten-path experience feels authentic and non-touristic. The photographic opportunities are extraordinary. You can choose to join the men on their daily hunt or the women on their fruit-gathering session. Either way, you’ll gain insights into the Hadzabe way of life. This will undoubtedly be a highlight of your safari!

After completing activities with the tribe, visit the beautiful Lake Eyasi, a shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. In the afternoon, you will fly to Zanzibar for an overnight stay at Tembo House Hotel.

Stone Town

Stone Town - Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, followed by an optional spice tour and a guided tour of Stone Town. Your guide will introduce you to all the buildings of interest and famous viewpoints. Stone Town and its buildings are rich in history and stories from Zanzibar’s past, during the times of the Sultans (Arabs), Europeans, and Missionaries.

After lunch on your own, you’ll be picked up from the hotel and driven to another optional Spice Plantation Center, where you can explore the fragrant spice plantations of Zanzibar and breathe in the scent of an infused past. Led by a friendly and professional guide, gain exclusive insights into the farms on this 3-hour tour. Today, the plantations are a tribute to the island’s colonial past. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the island’s turbulent history. After the spice tour, you will be taken for an overnight stay at Lujo Zanzibar Resort on a bed and breakfast basis.

Zanzibar- Beach Relaxation

Zanzibar Island - Relax at the stunning Paje Beach. If you wish to swim at low tide on the ‘empty’ days, you’ll need to walk a long way to reach swimmable water. It’s an ideal spot for kite surfing due to the wind conditions and the calm lagoon. Paje Beach is a major attraction, with its incredible blue sea and powder-soft white sand. The tides are remarkable. At high tide, the water covers the entire beach, while at low tide, the lagoon empties completely, leaving ankle-deep water for miles.

Zanzibar Island - Enjoy breakfast at the resort. You can choose to take any tour of your preference. Meals are available for up to $10 or Tsh25,000 (some dishes may cost more).
