- The Palace of Knossos - After our visit to the Archaeological Museum, around 10:30 AM, we will drive 5 km southeast of the city to explore the Knossos Palace, constructed between 1700 and 1400 BC. The palace showcased advanced architectural techniques, with some sections reaching up to 5 stories high. Settlements in Knossos date back to the Neolithic period, with remains from around 7000 BC found throughout Crete. Discover the ruins of the ancient Minoan civilization. Knossos Palace boasted 1,300 rooms connected by corridors, a theater, and extensive storerooms that held large clay containers of oil, grains, dried fish, beans, and olives—often with gold hidden beneath.
