Depart Fes for the Sahara Desert
Ifrane - The guide will collect guests from their hotel in Fes at 8:00 am to begin the journey southward through Morocco. A stop in Ifrane, often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco, will allow time to appreciate its charm and capture some photographs.
Azrou - The tour will proceed to Azrou, where visitors can observe the lively monkeys in the cedar forest.
Erfoud - The journey continues to Midelt for a lunch break. In the afternoon, the route crosses the Tizi n Tlghamt pass to reach Errachidia, offering stunning views of Ziz Gorge. A stop will be made for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. After lunch, the tour will pass through Erfoud, renowned as Morocco’s fossil capital.
Merzouga - Arrival in Merzouga is scheduled for an overnight stay and dinner.
Overnight in Berber Nomad Camp
Erg Chebbi - The morning begins with a tour around the Erg Chebbi dunes. A visit to a Berber house includes a performance of Gnawa music, with roots in Ghana and Sudan. The tour will explore abandoned mines, meet Berber nomads, and visit a palm tree oasis. Lunch will be back in Merzouga, followed by a period of relaxation before embarking on a camel adventure into the sand dunes.
Before departing for the desert, camels will be equipped with water, food, blankets, and all necessary supplies for the journey. Each participant will have their own camel for the 1.5-hour ride into the dunes.
Upon arrival at a private tent, guests can explore the dunes, enjoy the stunning sunset, and try sandboarding. After sunset, return to the camp for mint tea, known locally as Moroccan Berber Whiskey. Dinner will feature a delicious Moroccan Berber tagine. Post-dinner, a celebration with local Berber nomad musicians will include traditional music, drumming, and dancing. The evening concludes with stargazing in the tranquil desert. Dinner and overnight stay in a luxury nomad camp.
Sahara Desert to Todra Gorge
Dades Gorges - Guests will be gently awakened by their guide to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. Camels will transport them back to Merzouga for breakfast and showers. The journey to Todra Gorge includes an off-road drive across the hamada (black desert) to Rissani, where the lively local market can be visited. The tour then heads north to Erfoud, famous for its fossils, with an optional stop at a fossil workshop before continuing to the breathtaking Todra canyons. Opportunities for rock climbing (advance reservations may be needed) and hiking are available before proceeding to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Dades Valley to Ouarzazate
Ouarzazate - After breakfast at the hotel, the tour follows the road of a Thousand Kasbahs, showcasing the grand kasbahs lining the route. The journey passes through Dades Valley and ascends into the mountains via an off-road trail, where numerous Berber villages and nomads reside in caves. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit one of these families, observe their daily life, and learn about their primary occupation of herding goats and sheep. The tour continues through the stunning landscapes of the Valley of the Roses before reaching the Skoura palm grove and finally Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight hotel stay.
Ouarzazate to Marrakech
Taourirt Kasbah - Following breakfast, a visit to Taourirt Kasbah is planned before departing for Ait Benhaddou.
Ait Ben Haddou - The tour includes a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, known for films such as The Man Who Would Be King, Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, The Message, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator.
Kasbah du Pacha el Glaoui - The journey continues with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.
