Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - The adventure begins in Kampala, where guests will be collected from their hotel. A skilled driver-guide will accompany them throughout the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive from Kampala to Bwindi takes about nine hours, providing a comfortable ride with breathtaking scenery. Although lengthy, the journey offers views of diverse landscapes, including tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, often referred to as the Switzerland of East Africa.

There will be a stop at the Equator for photo opportunities and a water experiment. Additionally, there will be a lunch break in Mbarara town. After lunch, the journey continues directly to the park, arriving in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge, a mid-range lodge located outside Rushaga in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Experience

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Gorilla trekking starts at 8:00 am with a briefing at the park headquarters conducted by a local ranger guide. Following the briefing, guests will head into the park with their packed lunch. At the headquarters, they will be divided into groups of eight trekkers, which is the maximum number allowed to visit a gorilla family each day.

The trek can last from 1 to 6 hours as participants navigate the impenetrable forest, depending on the gorillas’ movements and the trekkers’ pace. Upon locating the gorilla family, guests will spend a magical hour observing them in their natural environment, learning about their behaviors and lifestyles, and taking photographs.

After enjoying lunch and some relaxation, guests will visit the Batwa community in the evening. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the impenetrable forest before being resettled outside the park. During this visit, guests will experience the traditional lifestyles of the Batwa and engage closely with the local people.

Return to Kampala

Kampala - After breakfast, guests will depart from the lodge and begin their drive back to their hotel in Kampala, where the trip began.

The travellers need to travel with our guide who will pay for their entry fees and permits. We shall also need a screen shot of each travellers passport showing the page that shows the details of each traveller in advance at least two days before each traveller travels in order to be able to pay for their entrance fees.
