Kigali Genocide Memorial - Morning Pick-up: Guests will be collected from any location in Kigali for a drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial site before proceeding to Akagera National Park.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial serves as a place of remembrance and education, honoring the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and highlighting the nation’s journey towards recovery.

The memorial is a UNESCO World Heritage site, situated at the burial site of 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The museum offers comprehensive documentation of the genocide, providing essential insights into Rwanda’s recent tragic history and the remarkable progress in reconciliation and development. It also includes exhibits on other genocides worldwide, offering a crucial lesson on the consequences of unchecked hatred. Admission to the museum is free, with an optional audio guide available for $15. Visitors should allocate at least 2 hours for the tour.

Akagera National Park - Following the visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, guests will depart Kigali for Akagera National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours with knowledgeable local guides and a friendly driver. Transportation is provided in a 4x4 safari vehicle equipped with WiFi to keep guests connected.

A 45-minute stopover at Imigongo Art Center is planned for lunch, coffee, restroom breaks, snacks, and to explore arts and crafts.

Upon arrival at the park, guests will complete entry formalities at the reception.

After check-in, guests can relax, freshen up, or swim before embarking on a night game drive at 5:30 pm, or enjoy a 1.5-hour game drive in the open savannah. Following the game drive, guests will return to the lodge.

Akagera National Park - At 7:00 am, after breakfast, guests will be picked up from Mantis Akagera Game Lodge for a full-day safari game drive, lasting approximately 6 hours, with expert local guides.

Departure:
By 9:00 am, guests will enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema before continuing with a safari game drive to the north.

Boat safaris on Lake Ihema provide a unique view of the park, showcasing hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species from the water.

After the boat safari, guests will transition to a game drive, exploring the northern part of the park.

Lunch will be at Mihindi Picnic Area.

3:00 pm - 5:00 pm End of the Safari

The safari concludes in the north, followed by a return trip to Kigali.
