On this day, the driver will pick up guests early in the morning at 4:00 am from the hotel and proceed to Musanze district, heading to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for an assembly and briefing about the endangered mountain gorillas and the volcanoes. Attendance at the meeting is mandatory, and during this time, guests will be assigned to gorilla families and porters.

Gorilla groups are allocated based on the location of the gorillas and the guests’ overall fitness levels. Once ready, guests will venture into the forest to track their assigned gorilla group alongside other tourists. The journey involves navigating through dense forests, steep, and muddy areas before finally encountering the gorilla family. It is important to follow the head guide’s instructions and capture as many photos as possible.

Guests should remain calm and avoid sudden movements. The experience of spending time with a gorilla family is unforgettable, as observing a family of mountain gorillas is unlike any other wildlife encounter.
