Kisoro - The pick-up will be from either the hotel in Kigali or Kigali Airport upon arrival (before 12pm). A Professional English-speaking Tour Driver-guide will greet you and begin the journey to Cyanika Border Post. At Cyanika, a Uganda-based Professional Tour Driver-guide will take over from the Rwanda-based guide. You will cross the border into Uganda and stay overnight at a property near Mgahinga NP, where you will go golden monkey trekking the next day.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - Uganda is rich in primates, and the golden monkeys are a must-see species. These beautiful primates are found in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the Virunga Mountains where they are endemic. This morning, embark on a 45-minute to an hour drive to the Mgahinga NP ranger’s post. After a briefing, a ranger-guide will lead you into the Mgahinga Forest to encounter golden monkeys. Once located, you will spend an hour with them. The experience is so captivating that time flies by. Afterward, board the car and transfer to accommodation at the edge of Bwindi NP for tomorrow’s gorilla trekking.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Enjoy breakfast and proceed to the rangers’ post. A ranger-guide will brief you on the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking. Then, enter the forest for your adventure. The rainforest’s beauty is spectacular, offering a dramatic, steeply forested landscape. The trek duration (4-8 hours) and terrain vary with the gorillas’ movements. Once a gorilla group is located, you will spend an hour with them. Observing these gentle giants is an unforgettable thrill. Return to the accommodation to rest after the trek. *Optional (extra cost $25 pp): If you finish early and feel up to it, your guide can arrange a community visit or a short nature walk along a forest trail.

Queen Elizabeth National Park - Rise early, have breakfast, and transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, known for its tree-climbing lions. Undertake a game drive to spot this rare lion species. The chance of seeing these lions is about 60-70%, though they can be elusive when hunting in the grasslands. If you spot them in the trees, the view is picturesque and unforgettable. From Ishasha (south), exit and head to the booked accommodation in the north sector. Check in and rest. *Optional: Consider a late afternoon-to-evening game drive/safari in the Kasenyi plains if interested.

Queen Elizabeth National Park - Rise early and enjoy breakfast. Head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, looking for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, lions, and leopards (though elusive). Return to the accommodation for rest and lunch. After lunch, embark on a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lakes George and Edward. The trip offers views of wildlife, including hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, and a variety of birds along the shores. *After the boat trip, choose to return to the lodge to rest or go for a brief late afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge.

Transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy afternoon (evening) game drive.

Lake Mburo National Park - Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, then set off to Lake Mburo NP. This compact gem is conveniently located near the highway connecting Entebbe/Kampala to western Uganda’s parks. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah National Parks but home to many bird species and animals like giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, buffalo, and elusive leopards. Arrive, check in, and rest before heading out for a late afternoon-to-evening game drive to see Mburo’s inhabitants. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. *Optional (extra cost $30 pp.): Consider a night game drive to see nocturnal creatures, a rare sight compared to daytime sightings.

Return to the accommodation for checkout, then travel to Entebbe airport for your flight (from 1730hrs or later). Expect a stop at the Equator crossing (Kayabwe) for memorable photos in the Pearl of Africa.
