This lake is located in the southeastern part of the country, near the Kochkor village with , and is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,550 meters (11,647 feet) above sea level. Lake Kol-Ukok is located in the north-eastern part of the mountain Terskey Ala-Too.The lake water is very cold. The area surrounding Lake Kol-Ukok is known for its stunning alpine scenery, including snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and alpine meadows. The lake itself is fed by glacial meltwater and is surrounded by rocky terrain. The lake is also an important habitat for several species of birds, including ruddy shelducks, black-necked cranes, and bar-headed geese.
While the area around Lake Kol-Ukok is remote and difficult to access, it is popular among trekkers and adventurers who come to explore the rugged landscape and experience the unique culture of the local Kyrgyz people.
