• Angkor Wat - Begin the day by departing the hotel before dawn to witness the sunrise in front of Angkor Wat. Enter the magnificent temple in darkness (a flashlight is recommended) from the less frequented eastern side, and make your way through the ancient cloistered corridors to the world’s longest stretch of bas-reliefs. Experience the serene atmosphere of sunrise at Angkor from the edge of one of the library’s ancient pools. Then, delve into the interior of the grand temple, dedicating two full hours to exploring the corridors, central chambers, and upper terraces of this magnificent structure. An expert local guide will reveal the numerous stories behind the reliefs and provide insights into life during the peak of the Khmer Empire.
• Srah Srang - Conclude the Angkor tour with breakfast outside the temple (breakfast not included), followed by a brief rest.
• Ta Prohm Temple - Continue the morning with a visit to Ta Prohm, one of Angkor’s most iconic temples, enveloped by jungle. Ta Prohm, which once accommodated 2,740 monks, remains much as it was in the early 1850s when French explorer Henri Mouhot “rediscovered” this site.
• Terrace of the Leper King - Proceed with the morning in the city of Angkor Thom. Pass by the renowned Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of the Elephants before arriving at the Bayon Temple.
• Bayon Temple - At “El Bayón” (12th century), admire its beautifully carved central towers, adorned with over 200 enormous faces, and continue towards the South Gate of Angkor Thom, flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side - gods on the left and demons on the right - and the fortified city of Angkor Thom.
• Siem Reap - Enjoy the remainder of the tour in the tranquil surroundings of the Angkor Archaeological Park before returning to the hotel. The visit concludes between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
