Angkor Wat - In the afternoon, the tour visits Angkor Wat, initially a Hindu and later a Buddhist temple complex in Cambodia, recognized as the largest religious monument in the world. Built by Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura (present-day Angkor), it served as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Unlike previous kings who followed Shaivism, Angkor Wat was dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it has remained a significant religious center since its inception. The temple epitomizes the high classical style of Khmer architecture and has become a symbol of Cambodia, featuring on its national flag.
