Great food, tons of fun and wonderful guides! - Wonderful tour of the city, culture and food with our guide Celia. She was amazing and adapted the tour to the needs of our group. We absolutely cannot speak more highly of this tour and their other tours in general. Highlights include deep connection between culture and food with site seeing integrated into the experience. The food was amazing, wine wonderful and overall an experience I highly recommend. You visit places you would never find and meet the coolest people!

Two great days with Célia! Nice combination of food and history - We really enjoyed our time with Célia. She fit right in to our private group of six friends. She took us to interesting places which allowed us to taste most of the special Portuguese dishes I had read about. She was very good at mixing the history and sights of the area in between the food tasting. We really enjoyed her expertise and her company. Another good experience with Backstreets for us!

Hidden Flavors Revealed - This was not just a culinary tour. It was an immersion in the history, culture and cuisine of Portugal, brought to us by one of the best tour guides in the business. Gisela was not only knowledgeable, she was personable and fully invested in our experience. For six hours, we were transported to another world, walking the backstreets, learning the history, and savoring delicious Portuguese foods in ‘tascas’ (local taverns) that we would not have known existed. This is the way to see and experience Lisbon - in the eyes of a passionate local, who invited us to join her world for a few hours - and we are so thankful she did! Thank you, Gisela, Culinary Backstreets Lisbon and TripAdvisor for an amazing tour!

The poster tour of Culinary Backsteets - Andre was fantastic. My wife and I had stayed in Graca a year ago, and I wished I had done this tour prior to that week. Andre took us to a great variety of the family run, super casual, but incredibly tasty tascas. I was surprised by the variety of food in these traditional places. Andre made you feel like a family member that he was showing around his neighborhood. That is a hilly area, but Andre's routes and timing, made it quite manageable for three people in their 70's. These were not fancy places, not a tablecloth in sight, but for anyone who wants to experience real Lisbon home cooking in casual neighborhood places, this would be perfect. When I think of the mission of Culinary Backstreets, this was it! Fantastic. I may come back to Lisbon just to do this tour again. And I would be happy to do it with Andre.

Our 8th Culinary Backstreets Tour - all terrific and informative! - This was our most recent (8th) Culinary Backstreets Tour. We have now done all 4 Lisbon tours, 2 Oaxaca tours, 1 Marseille tour, and 1 Porto tour - obviously we love them! The local guides are always wonderful/interesting and the tours well planned and thought out. There is a lot of walking and a lot of eating involved, so wear comfortable shoes and do not eat beforehand! We learned much about local culture, history and food while also directly enjoying meals and speaking to the proprietors at unique local venues. This tour is the latest addition to Lisbon's options and was just as wonderful as all the others! André was terrific and even had a few card tricks up his sleeve to show us at the end!

Marvelous afternoon touring delicious Tascas - Andre is an outstanding, knowledgeable, patient, foodie, that made our culinary-historic-tour of Lisbon an unforgettable experience. Andre guided us through delicious Tascas tasting wonderful local dishes, away from the Lisbon beaten path. We will do the same experience when we return to Lisbon.

The local side of Lisbon explored - I can count on Culinary Backstreets to always take me somewhere unexpected and be guided by a passionate local who provides insights not only about the food, but also the culture and community that it is served in. We enjoyed lots of stops for delicious food and enjoyed the stories that were served with the dishes we ate. Andre was a delight and we enjoyed the friendly interaction between Andre and the businesses that we visited and of course the surprise addition of a little entertainment! Thanks for the magic Andre
