Best one yet - Visited at the tail end of whale season so I wasn’t optimistic we would see many humpbacks. Boy was I wrong! Took about an hour of searching to find them but saw some amazing breaches from males, females, and calves nonstop for about 45 minutes. So much fun!!

The best whale watch - Ultimate Whale Watch is absolutely the best. Two sizes of boats but both are relatively small and fast (think being able to get to the whales fast). The captains and the first mates are very knowledgeable and very friendly. I did 2 watches in March and both were amazing. I didn't know that late in the season the male to female ratio is very high so it is common to see very large pods of males chasing one female.

Over the Top Experience...Again and Again!!! - We've used Ultimate the last two years - two trips each year! They are not only great at what they do - all the crews we had love what they do. They are safety conscious and customer focused. They do their best to get you the best whale experiences mother nature can offer at the time. Our adult kids, grandkids and brother & sister in-laws were blown away by the experiences. Book two trips when you're in Maui - you can't go wrong - each will be different - both will be amazing.

Amazing Experience - We opted for the VIP tour and it was an experience we will never forget. Let’s face it, if you are never going to do this again you should pay for the best experience. This trip is not the type of trip you will stay dry on, it’s a small boat so it can get to the whales quickly just lots a speed boat, but the down side is you get wet…small price to pay for a world class experience. The staff were very knowledgeable about the whales and made it fun too. While you will not get up Close and personal you will get close enough for good pictures. Tip - use the video on your camera will make lifer easier; the boat constantly bobs up and down and would be difficult take a photo.

A Perfect Whale Watching Experience - We had a fantastic time. The crew (Lacy & Lily) were outstanding. They really seemed to enjoy doing their best to make sure we all had a memorable experience. We found the boat to be ideal for the experience. Highly recommend.

The ONLY whale watch I’ll recommend! - I’ve been on watches before with big boats and lots of people. This was not that! Only 8 people on our boat and captain John left everyone behind and went to the whales, closer than I’ve ever seen. We watched them breech over and over again. It was magnificent!!

Absolutely amazing!!’ - Went out yesterday on the Aloha Kai with Derek and Alyssa and it is an experience I will always remember! Derek and Alyssa are great! They are both super fun and nice and I learned so many things about whales that I really did not remember from when I have gone before. The boat is small, it was just six of us, which was awesome. I have never been on a boat that small whale watching, this is absolutely the way to go! We saw so many humpbacks and a few had babies in tow, one baby looked like it probably wasn't born too long ago. We saw the mother and the baby breaching over and over again. It was so awesome!! Thank you guys for an absolutely fantastic morning !!

Experience of a lifetime - Up close and personal with the whales. The captain and the naturalist went out of their way to find active whales. We had the experience of a lifetime! There was a pair of whales that spent about 20 minutes playfully going under our boat and another boat close by. They rolled over and floated on the surface, splashed us, and were within about 10 feet of the boat. Incredible time! Every seat is a good seat and you get as close as you can be. It is a raft so it is a bit of a bumpy ride. I would not recommend it for someone who gets seasick. For anyone else, it is the best way to experience the whales.

The BEST experience! - We went on this tour March 2025. I cannot say enough good things about this tour! We saw so many whales and the staff was awesome. They get you close enough to see the whales, but that is still legal, yet the whales are so curious they come up to you. We had them so close, and under our boat for almost an hour. The naturalist is very knowledgeable. We also saw a pod of spinner dolphins which followed us out. I see there are a couple of not so nice reviews on here - I don't know what world those people live in. This trip was definitely safe, extremely fun, worth the money, & we definitely would do it again. Make sure you book in the early morning when weather is less windy. We did a 9am tour.
