Amazing Mdina - We took the public bus from Valetta Bus station to close to Mdina Gate (€2 each way) and met our guide Marisa. Marisa was very knowledgeable about the Silent City; the one nun left in the huge convent, the families who owned the houses, the rivalry between the Grandmaster (Vilhena Palace, now the National Museum of Natural History, just inside the Mdina Gate) and the Archbishop, the hotels which hosted Prince William and King Charles and the history of Mdina from the Ottoman occupancy through to the Knights, who then relocated to Birgu. We did not get to visit the cathedral as there was a wedding taking place but we did get to visit the opulent St Paul's Cathedral in Rabat. Marisa provided the history of St Paul's time in Malta. At the end of the tour we went back into the city via the Greek Gate, walked through the gardens of the dry moat around the walls and went to Fontanella's and admired the views from the open air terrace, drank coffee and ate the legendary cake!

Great informative walk - Our guide was a local lady who was really good - provided lots of information about the history and buildings in Mdina & Rabat, but we also learned about the general history & culture of Malta. Walking pace was well timed and we went to some less busy streets. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Mdina!

Mdina and Rabat - Angela - Angela- our guide, was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and brilliant at guiding. Her enthusiasm was very clear about the city. The group was fairly large, but the headsets were very good ideas, so we could hear her very clearly while not standing right next to her. The city was exceptionally busy, but she guided us around the less crowded streets and alleyways. She made recommendations about restaurants and the museums. Wignecourt musem in Rabat - well worth extra visit for the catacombs and WW 2 shelter.

Great when you can hear the guide - Guide very knowledgeable. Provides history and many points of interest. Recommendations to guide : 1-start tour in a quieter area, entrance to gate was crowded with children, buses and other mega tour groups. 2- change to a personal loudspeaker or upgrade to better receivers and earphones, as there was a lot of static and noise.
