Excellent night tour guide - We were amazed by the abundant night life in Monteverde thanks to Roy. Our group of 8 (6 adults, 2 teens) was mesmerized and we got to see and learn so much!! Roy was great with our kids and everyone enjoyed the night tour, even those of us afraid of bugs and the dark. Highly recommend this activity.

The best night tour around Monteverde! - Roy is a national treasure! He went above and beyond to make sure we had the BEST night tour. Our ten year old was scared to try this and she had a blast as did we. At the end of it she said that was the best part of her two weeks in Costa Rica (side note I said the same). We saw spiders, insects, frogs, the most gorgeous bird, a viper, monkey, and best of all not one but two kinkajous eating flowers, oh and also a sloth :). Roy is kind, funny, and loves his work. Absolute gem, highly recommend this private tour!

Highly recommend! - Roy was our guide and was very knowledgable. We saw a couple snakes (milk and viper), several species of birds, bats, spiders, etc. Roy would take pictures through the microscope for you. The guides communicated extremely well, so we were all over the forest looking around. It was a fun adventure and of the 4 guided tours was the one we saw the 2nd greatest number of animals, with the most amount of time to look at them. The first was the floating tour, but the animals were often far away, hard to see, or you went by them too quickly.

Roy's Night Tour cannot be missed!!! - Our family visited Monteverde this December in search of adventure, and it did not disappoint. This magical destination, one of our favorite places in the world, is renowned for its fresh, invigorating air and its breathtaking flora and fauna. Roy, our incredible guide, elevated the experience by taking us to unforgettable locations and sharing his vast knowledge of the region's natural wonders. One highlight of our trip was the Night Tour with Roy—a must-do for anyone wanting to experience the jungle truly coming alive under the beam of a flashlight. This unique experience allowed us to check off a few bucket-list items while marveling at the jungle’s nocturnal magic. We spotted fascinating creatures, including Cordyceps-infected wasps, frogs of all shapes and sizes, and a stunning side-striped palm pitviper. The tour exceeded all expectations and left us in awe. Traveling with my wife and three daughters, this experience became the centerpiece of our trip, sparking conversations and fond memories for days afterward. Roy is an exceptional guide and a true gem. Don’t miss the chance to explore Monteverde with him—you’ll treasure the experience, and so will your family. We can’t wait to return and do it all over again!

Fantastic experience - What a night to remember. A sloth, 4 snakes, a scorpion, a tucan and more. The guide (Loandry) was unbelievable. He did the tour with so much passion and joy, also he knows everything about the wildlife and the trees. I learned so much in this time and had an amazing time. Thank you so much. 🙏

Great experience! - My friends and I had such a great time! Juan Carlos was our tour guide and he did a great job of spotting hidden animals and explaining the flora and fauna of the area. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about Monteverde wildlife and seeing some amazing animals! We had such trouble seeing anything on our own, so it was incredibly helpful to have Juan Carlos point things out for us (and take photos!).

Excellent night walk spotting numerous animals birds and insects - Roy was so knowledgeable about the wildlife and the trees/plants and he was very friendly and happy to answer all of our questions. We saw sloths, kinkajous, various birds including an emerald toucan, hummingbird & motmot bird, two types of frog, a tarantula, scorpion, 3 different sized vipers, and various insects including moss stick insect, regular stick insect and headlamp click beetle which my partner and I mistook for a firefly but Roy showed us in detail the beetle’s bioluminescent “headlamps” and his clicking/jumping behaviour! The majority of these creatures were very well hidden but somehow Roy was able to spot them and point them out to us and line up his telescope for us to see in detail. As some other reviews have said, there are multiple night tours taking place in the same area but this actually helps us to see more wildlife since the guides help each other out and let each other know where they have spotted something for us to see. I would definitely recommend this night walk - thank you Roy!
