Tarangire National Park - Elephant Spectacular Day Safari
There’s something very special about Tarangire National Park. It’s one of Tanzania’s smaller (dare we say boutique?) parks but don’t let its size fool you. Tarangire National Park is crammed full of a spectacular diversity of awe-inspiring landscapes, big skies and, yes, you’ll see an amazing range of wildlife. But those in the know go to take in the elephants. Tarangire is renowned for its vibrant population of African bush elephants and our Elephant Spectacular Day Safari will bring you up close and personal to these magnificent animals. It’s a great taster safari, too; if you’re new to Tanzania, this day trip is great training for longer safaris.

We’ll embark from Moshi at the crack of dawn and head directly to Tarangire National Park. The scenery of the park is truly magnificent; scattered with enormous termite mounds (some of which are occupied by the mongoose families) and grandiose baobab trees, alongside golden grasslands. The park benefits from a consistent water source, which accounts for its abundant wildlife. Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled. Tarangire is home to more than 550 bird species, including the globe’s largest bird, the Maasai ostrich. (It’s true, Tarangire might be compact, but it plays host to some of the largest animals!)
As you ride in your robust 4x4 with a pop-up roof, make sure your camera is at the ready for capturing giraffes, warthogs, impalas, cheetahs, mongooses, buffaloes, and baboons. Raise your gaze to the branches to catch a glimpse of Tarangire’s renowned tree-climbing leopards, and keep your eyes peeled – could that be a python you see?
