- Culloden Battlefield - The first destination is Culloden Battlefield. Visitors will explore the site while learning about the tragic events of April 16, 1746. The battle’s impact is still felt in the Highlands, and the guide will passionately explain its lasting cultural effects. A visit to a viewpoint will reveal where the troops once stood, and you’ll see the makeshift hospital cottage, grave markers, and other significant spots. There will be time to reflect on this poignant historical site, with restrooms available for convenience.
- Clava Cairns - The next stop is the ancient burial site of Clava Cairns. Admire these Bronze Age cairns and touch the standing stones as the guide shares insights into their construction 4000 years ago. Discover how the Victorians romanticized and altered Clava’s landscapes, and imagine life back in 2000 BC. Walk in the footsteps of ancient Scottish cultures and ponder the mysteries they left behind.
- Inverness - A local tour guide will lead a brief walking tour of Inverness city center, affectionately known as Inversnecky by locals. The tour includes historical sites, architecture, and hidden gems known only to locals. Visit the oldest pub, a site where Jacobite soldiers were executed post-Culloden, and enjoy a view of the newly renovated castle. There will be free time to enjoy a coffee or lunch, with excellent recommendations provided by the guide. Ample time is given to fully experience the city without feeling rushed.
- Loch Ness - The tour continues to the East Coast of Loch Ness, with a stop at the picturesque Dores Beach. Here, guests can get close to Loch Ness and enjoy its breathtaking views. With luck, you might even spot the famous Loch Ness Monster! Learn about the guide’s mother’s video of Loch Ness and decide for yourself after viewing it. Meet the “Loch Ness Monster Hunter,” who has resided on the beach since the early ‘90s. Enjoy a Gaelic toast with the group and guide before returning to Invergordon and the cruise.
- The Singleton Distillery - The tour concludes with a visit to The Singleton Distillery, where guests can savor a dram at the bar and explore the gift shop and information boards (Distillery Tour not included).
