- Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - Next, head to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for a visit from 11 am to 12 pm. Walk through the center, surrounded by a rope fence, as the youngest elephants eagerly approach their keepers, who are ready with large bottles of milk. For 10-15 minutes, observe the elephants enjoying their milk. Learn about their backgrounds, including their age upon arrival, rescue locations, and the circumstances leading to their orphaning, such as poaching, falling into wells, or human-wildlife conflicts. After feeding, the youngest elephants return to the bush, making way for the 2-3 year-olds. Some can feed themselves, while others are assisted by their keepers. Watch them interact, nibble on acacia branches, and play with water and mud-filled drums.
